Equipping any car

Featured Replies

As we're allowed to play plainclothes, there's an idea that crossed my mind.

Police department often use a variety of unmarked vehicles, and sometimes even allow officers to register and use their own car.

So why not to make possible to turn almost any car in game in a cruiser? Maybe without computer terminal, but at least with the «trunk refill» feature. Of course it should be impossible to do that in the middle of a duty, only at the police station. Also, it could be added as an option while chosing the patrol car, like “use the first car I'll get in” or such.

Technically you can do that right now, use AdditionalCopCarModels in lcpdfr.ini (config), set the car name Admiral; (can't spell). But I have not tried any vanilla cars which is not police car. I know if you made police3, police4 and add them to the ini they get to use police computer. This was a requesting thing for police3,4 to be able to use police computer and now we are able to do it :D

I believ e I asked that back with 0.95 (I'll dig out the thread) and was told it wasn't possible then without editing the vehicles.img file

I like the idea of putting a light on the roof and a siren and being able to ull people over and/or detain them in what is essentially a civvie vehicle.

I believe you can do that but putting the light on the roof would need to be modded (zmoddler -- used to make cop cars).

Unfortunately AdditionalCopCarModels doesn't seem to work with (vanilla) civilian cars: tried different values (like Admiral & Oracle) with no success at all.

Looking forward about this feature (use civ cars as duty ones), it's really interesting to me.
