Disappearing LCPD Backup

Featured Replies

Greetings, I'm relatively new to this so this may be wrong place to post in. If so, I apologize.

I have an issue where whenever I call LCPD backup, after they arrived and I turn camera away from them and back, they would disappear. What is puzzling is that this never happen with NOOSE backup (they stay even if camera panned away from them and back). I'm really at loss as to why this happens and have searched the forum for anything about this, no luck so far.

I have the following mods installed, in the order of when they were first installed:

Simple Native Trainer v6.5
LCPD First Response 0.95 RC2
vDh PoliceHelper 1.2.1 beta

No car or ELS mods installed, at least to my knowledge.

As an additional note, I should also add that I have both dsound and xliveless DLLs in GTA4 folder but they were both put in there by SNT but I have no idea if it may cause some conflict or not. I also do not know if both DLLs are required by SNT or whether SNT can function without dsound.

I am currently on GTA IV 1.0.7.0, no EFLC installed.

My spec is:

HP Pavilion dv7-3085dx Notebook PC
GeForce GT 230M
1024MB dedicated video memory
Intel Core i7
1.60 GHz
450 GB
6GB RAM

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated here and if you need to ask any questions to further diagnose this, ask away. Thanks in advance.

This is typically caused by GTA removing objects from the game in order to save memory. It's possible that the 1GB of VRAM on your video card isn't quite enough for GTA to maintain all of the backup while playing the game with LCPDFR installed, but it could also just be GTA trying to be memory-efficient.

There really isn't a fix for this (that I know of, at least). You could try cutting back on your mods a little.

EDIT: Just saw that you have both asi loaders. You should delete either xlive or dsound (preferably xlive) as it may cause problems, although probably not this.

My only guess is that your missing some files. Does this happen every time you call for backup?

A few suggestions:

-Try starting a new game file.

-Reinstalling GTA iv or LCPDFR without xlive.

-deleting the mods, this is important...some mods are not compatible.

Good luck!

Reinstalling the game isn't always the solution, and this time it's not conflicting mods either I believe.

Try creating a file called "commandline.txt" in your main GTA IV directory with this text:

-norestrictions

Since you do not have any car mods, I'm agreeing with Iconography on this. 1gb vram should be enough, but because of GTA IVs terrible coding it's not enough.

Also, as Icon stated, remove either xlive.dll or dsound.dll.

Sorry for delayed response. It appears that I did not get notification about newest replies in this thread. Anyhow, I will try those recommendations and report back on it. Thanks for the replies.

EDIT: Forgot to answer a question.

Yes it happens almost every time. Will try those steps. Thanks.

Even if it is removing objects to save memory, it doesn't explain why NOOSE backup absolutely never disappears, even if LCPD backup disappears many times over.

EDIT #2: It turned out, I do not have dsound installed in the GTAIV directory. I could've sworn it was there. Will try other steps.
