What do you mean list the contents of your gta folder as in everything in the folder or the ones in the main folder

When you arrive at the site, click on tech specs. that is my laptop specs.

 

 

The main folder and the folder called 'scripts'. 
Ahh Alienware... I'm going to say what I have said many times before on these forums: Laptops are NOT recommended for gaming. GTA IV is a very demanding game, even without mods.

Remove the following files from the main directory: 

1. xlive.dll

2. xlive_d.dll

... and start the game again.

GTA IV FATAL ERROR: XNetStartup failed - Please re-boot your system and/or re-install the game.

 

That is the error now ^

 

 

Is it only me that have problems with this?

Sometimes it takes awhile... You did remove those two files, correct?

You said that you did use the latest patch but the log says otherwise. So that's probably the issue here.
