Featured Replies

I played the mission Deconstruction for beginners. And then the game startetd lagging without any reason, I did nothing. I restartet my game, tried to play on the lowest settings and nothing, really nothing happens.

What can I do?

Best regards,

You can post your computer specs and answer the following questions:

  1. Is it a legal copy of the game?
  2. Are you running the game as administrator?
  3. Are you using the latest patch? (1.0.7.0)
  4. What mods are you using?

Alright,

PC specs:

Intel i5 4 x 2,80 GHz

NVIDIA GT440

4GB RAM

Win7 Home Premium

Now your questions:

1. Yes (bought on MMOGA, downloaded via steam)

2. Yes

3. Yes

4. I've got the problem with my backup version with no mods and with my version with tons of mods. So mods aren't the problem.

Best regards,

Roman

Hmm alright... To circumvent a less powerful computer, and maybe get the game up and running, create a txt file called “commandline.txt” (without quotes) in your main GTA IV installation directory. Insert the following lines:

-renderquality 0 -shadowdensity 0 -texturequality 0 -viewdistance 0 -detailquality 0 -novblank -norestrictions -width 320 -height 240 -safemode -windowed -availablevidmem 2 -percentvidmem 100 -minspecaudio -novsync -renderquality 0 -frameLimit 0 -nomemrestrict

If it works without hickups with those lines, replace the file with these lines instead:

-norestrictions -availablevidmem 2 -percentvidmem 100 -frameLimit 0 -nomemrestrict

That graphics card is pretty weak and 4GB of RAM is barely sufficient. That's probably your issue.

But if it's due my PC. why could I play the game for weeks without any problems?

I'll try that with the commandline.

I agree, something is off there. But I also agree with unr3al. Try the commandline and see if it works better! :) What was the latest change you made to your computer and/or game?
