Lol I hate when people try to blame the video games for these types of incidents. Before you blame the games, think about who let them play the game (*cough* their guardians *cough*)!

I like said in my post, where were they 50 years ago with WW1, WW2.

People just blame video games because 8/10 games are 'kill that guy' type of games, PLUS what about movies? I've seen M movies that are far worse then MA 15+ video games. but its neither movies or games, it the people round the person that make them who they are

(note MA15+ is a higher ratting then M in AUS)

  • Here we go again, they're gonna blame the video games.. why was he even playing GTAIV at 8 anyway?

  • If you're being run over by ambulances, its probably time to move to a different town.   In a more serious tone however, its completely the parents fault here. The game is rated M (18) for a reason

  • Blame the parents. This is their fault.    1, A fucking fire arm shouldn't be accessible to a 8 year old. 2, The game is rated M for mature, why is your child playing one of the most violent games

I'm sure there gonna use this in an anti-gun debate too (on top of anti-video game).  The gun shoulda been locked up, and the kid shouldn't be playing games rated M.  Totally agree with 00Stevo's post about WWI / II

Charles Starkweather murdered people in the 50s.

No video games were around for 20 years. The demon of that time was rock and roll music long with the Red Scare and McCarthyism. (The original Footloose anyone?)

Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby in the 60s.

No video games. Hippies were the devil du jour as was the sudden counterculture, sexual freedom and drug explosion.

Ted Bundy murdered people in the 70s.

Video games came along in the late 70s. He was the devil du jour.

Point is violence has been around since the dawn of time and video games are the latest scapegoat. Before that, rock music, before that, the Axis powers in WWII, before that, Imperial Germany with the Kaiser at the helm, you get my drift. There 's always a scapegoat involved and rarely are the actual causes tackled.
