when i start the game, i would drive around a bit and then my roads disappear, not the vehicles but the roads and buildings?

In your in game settings change these and see if it helps

 

texture quality = high

shadow quality = off

night shadows = off

reflection resolution = off

water quality = low

detail distance = 1

view distance = 1

vehicle density = 20

 

and turn clip capture off in the game settings

Did u recently install some new high-poly vehicle models or vehicle mod packs? If your PC can't handle this, GTA will not be able to load most textures anymore, so if that's the problem u just have to undo what you added and everything should be like before.
