State police can patrol ANYWHERE in the state, as of highway patrol, different story. Same department, yeah sure. But not same division!

well the guy who made those unifroms did a bad job and named it a bad name but in the state of Texas you have the Texas State Troopers have a highway patrol division but they can patrol anywhere in the state because they are State troopers

In Texas, the Texas Highway Patrol acts as the state police, just not with the state police name.
