Does anyone know the limits to renaming ELS parts so they do not become a duplicate error? As in can we rename extra_1_L0 to extra_1_g_L0? I know one way to fix the error is to attach same parts together; however, for some reason, I can't do that with a project I'm working on with two Whelen Talons and a light bar on top. I successfully attached both the whelen talons, but when I try to attach the whelen talons to the light bar using the attach multiple tool, nothing happens. 

well extra_1_g_L0 should crash you almost instantly.. however what I do when I need to rename an extra is after extra_1_L0 is used I replace L0 with _a1 so for example

 

Extra_1

   - Extra_1_L0

   - Extra_1_a1

   - Extra_1_a2

    etc etc

You should never have a situation where you should have to name something extra_1_a1. You should always just attach things together or rename them to something else (when it comes to actual police parts) but the actual lights should never have to be named anything besides extra_1_L0, extra_1_L1, extra_1_L2. If you have duplicates then something isn't right. Everything you want to flash as extra 1 should be attached together. If your having issues attaching things and your getting an error like cannot attach parent to child or something like that then move the 2 objects into the same folder and then they should attach. For instance you can't attach something outside of the hierarchy to something inside or it will throw that error.

Well that is the thing, I am not getting any sort of error, I just doesn't attach...

Well, like I said, the problem is that I am trying to attach an extra_1_L0 from two Whelen Talons to one from a lightbar and it does not work. 

Not at this time, no, but I might clean some inactive's out and in that case I would open it up again for a few new people.  

 

Well, thats what you have to do, it attach them together. I understand your saying it doesn't work but thats the only way. you don't have selected mode on do you?
