GTA IV Fatal Error

Featured Replies

When in-game I run LCPDFR and then I go to a police station but when I go to the red marker at the front of the police station the game crashes and says: "GTA IV FATAL ERROR: Uncoverable fault - Please restart the game",  I don't get why it is doing that now, it used to work just fine. I have custom skins for the police cars using the modified original police car skins to work with ELS 7.

I've done a diagnostic test and it says it's not installed but yet it is.

Don't worry, I might just have to re-download the whole game to fix it.

I've had this issue before also, it's is(atleast for me was) a faulty and or incorrectly installed script/mod. If you run gta iv through steam open steam, goto gta iv right click the title, open properties, click I think it's called check cache integrity, once that's done(it uninstalls files that you changed ie car files, gun files, character skin files) also, this will cause you to need to reinstall lcpdfr due since it fixes the taser mod (applicable if you installed the taser) if nothing works or you dot run off of steam. Try running it using OpenIV. It seemed to help the game load and avoid errors. I don't know why but it does for myself.

Hope I helped. Good luck.

Best Wishes!

Well, I re-downloaded the game and the issue is still there. Will manually removing the scripts help this issue? I have also verified the integrity cache.

  ~UPDATE~

I have just found out what the issue is, it was the ELS files for the custom vehicles, I just deleted them and put them in again and no more crashing.

Was your error something like this?

Fatal_Error.png

I JUST researched the SMPA60 error and due to GOD Knows how many modifications I've made to GTA, I've uninstalled (which removed everything BUT save data (THANK GOD! LOL)), and am re-installing, to be followed by a re-install of LCPDFR, ELS (ESL? wow...I must be tired), and of course the only two vehicle mods I want. FireFighter767's Pierce Dash Ladder and Engine Pack and the Texas DPS State Trooper pack.

Yes, it was something like that. Now I just put a new mod in called Improved police cops v2.1 and it crashes and says GTA IV has stopped responding. I also have modified original police cars to work with ELS 7 but whenever I do the +livery for it in the vehicle.ini file, it crashes.

I'm just going to put back the original cd images and get a different police pack and see if it works.

Update

Still getting that fatal error thing with different custom police vehicles.

Whoever said it was too many scripts is wrong, 100% wrong...

SMPA60 is caused by TWO things - putting a car in a safe-house save spot and MODDING that car and having too many custom/modded cars (Especially with ELS).

If a car is too high poly it will cause SMPA60 when used in excessive, For example if you go to a scene and try to call in 10 police backup, Most likely you are going to crash because of all the modded cars.

For you, It's happening when you try to go on duty or enter the building to do so which is weird cause the cars don't load yet here.

First solution try going to the FirstReponse.ini located in scripts and find "PreLoadAllModels = False", Change that to True. This will load the models prior to going on duty and may stop the error but if not, Try restoring your original vehicles.img file and not adding too many custom cars or mods all at once. Anything in excessive amounts is bad.

If you didn't backup your vehicles.img that's on you, Hopefully you did.

Gonna have to assume that it's caused on MY ened by a modded car (the police vehicles) in the safe-house save spot.

the only vehicles I have installed are the Texas DPS Pack, and the Pierce Dash Engine and Truck.

I don't go on duty often. I'm tryin to get further in the game to unlock more stuff before I do more on-duty stuff :-)

I just checked my PreLoadAllModels line and that was set to true.

so perhaps this is happening because It's changed all the police vehicles AND the Fire Dept ones (minus medic)?

If the police cars are NEAR the save spot that's fine, As long as the car itself wasnt in your save spot if it is, you're going to have to start a new game.

You can uncheck PreLoadAllModels. I wouldn't mod the Fire Dept stuff, Probably too much. Just try with stock models first if it doesn't happen then add ONLY police cars, However if it still happens with stock get rid of any other possible model change such as a different police skin.

All I can think of from there. Also did this ever happen before or is this your first time trying the mod?

I have used this before even with a police car in the save spot and it has been fine until one day it kept coming up with the error. It happens when I enter a police vehicle or try to enter the police station the game crashes. Actually, I did mod that car, what do you suggest I do? I managed to get it working again once but now it's crashing again.

Now I am getting an error with Spark IV when I click on GTA IV.B5emsmK.jpg
