Stuck at Character Picture Loading Screen, Looping, and can't Close Game

Featured Replies

Tried to run the tool as I was trying to run GTA IV but it wouldn't run so I had to do it before I started the game. I tried to delete the save files and it still was looping. The sound plays for a bit longer than some people report, but still stops eventually. Eventually, I am forced to log off to force it close, and relog in. Once it loops for a while, nothing will close it unless I restart or log off my computer. I don't know what to do. I'm using OS Windows 8 and I'm running it as Vista SP 2. If you can help, please do. :)

should I try to update to latest version of gta? it worked on another computer at that version....and ive tried to uninstall and reinstall. that's why its not in (*86) program files. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it to that file to try again. should I try to uninstall again or update?

Well, now my computer is acting like it's trying to start GTA IV but it hasn't started yet....its been like two minutes since I've started it after updating it with that link. I'm going to try to launch the diagnostics again to see if there's any change.

I ran it again and this is the results. again its windows 8 running as vista sp 2....im trying to update all the way to .7....it only took me to .2 on update for some reason I think

okay its now saying in the tool that the update didn't work and im still at 1.0.....idk why it wasn't updating...im going to try the update again....

its still acting like its trying to start but it hasn't yet

okay which setup do I use....the one that's a window installer gets stuck at first screen....and the other acts like its updated but the tool says it still 1.0....idk why it wont update...

It doesn't say you updated it on the Tool. When you dragged those files(media1, and the 2 setups) did you install them, meaning did you run the setup?

I run the updater but there's no effect...

LCPDFR

The Policing Script

the VdH_PoliceHelper

the turn indicator script

traffic flow

the simple native trainer

and the towing service....

ive used them on gta iv on another before computer b4 and it didn't have problems....idk whats causing it...

Okay. If you want everything to go right, reinstall your game, make a backup of the files BEFORE you add any mods, then add one script at a time to your GTA:IV Directory. This happened to me many times and that's what I did to fix it. I would really do that if you want your game to work.
