Problems Gallore...

Featured Replies

My first issue is GFWL client not working, I understand that this is not the place for that. (NOTE: I've researched the past 2 days, none of the methods worked)

Dsound crashes my game when it starts the first mission. From what I read this can be a "save game" problem, but I cannot save the game because of the first issue. I cannot get my GFWL account to sign into the game because I don't have the key code from the GFWL client.

If I use the Xlive.dll the lcpdfr mod just doesn't even work at all. I've hit "alt+p" probably a million times after completing the first mission (yet again, I have to restart at the everytime because I can't save the game, because I cannot log into GFWL with my product key code from my game).

I am using an Acer Aspire with windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 64 bit

Some specs:

AMD Phenom 2 X4 N970 2.2GHz processor

4GB RAM

If anyone can help me fix this, please give me some help. I would love to play the game with these mods because it seems like fun.

with xlive, it disables GFWL. If your having problems with a save game, look for a 100% save and that might fix your problems.

The problem saving is you have to be connected to GFWL to save. I cannot connect to GFWL in-game menu because it won't accept my original key code. I have to be able to get on GFWL client to get the key code needed. But I cannot connect to the client.

Did u install the 1.0.7.0 patch for gta 4.

Yes....

Yes....

it somewhat sounds familiar to what i experienced.   I dont know if GFWL is still that stupid nowadays.   I have avoided and i dont think i have purchased a GFWL game since.  So no idea if they improved it...    Do you have the Steam version of GTA IV?  If you don't you can try anyways i guess..

I may be wrong in describing it,   i'm no techie anymore..

The game installation puts in the original or some default distributable of GFWL which could be months or years old.  When you try to start the game and set up your cd/game key,  it will not accept your legitimate key until GFWL is the latest LIVE version that everyone else has.

And again when you start the game it will always try to verify if it is legitmately logged with a CD/Game key before it allows you to proceed any further.  It pretty much interrupts,  blocks you from the next step which is auto update for the GFWL client.

CATCH 22.    It will never get through.  (took me many, many hours,  good part of a day and a half to get my game working.  I could not believe how stupidly lame they linked the authentication process...  so i didn't clue in right away.)

Manually searching for the newest GFWL downloadable and installing yourself is the only way to bypass.

If you are a new PC gamer or console gamer,  i totally understand being lost.   Because you have to search for the correct/latest GFWL downloadable,  download and save to your computer somewhere.   Then look for the executable and start installation.   It will prompt you about this and that before it is done.   So you have to have a GFWL account, steam account and a Rockstar Social club login if you want to play multiplayer.

I hope it helps you out.   And you know,  you might have a different issue altogether which would suck.

Good luck,,  just trying to help where i can.

My problem has been resolved. The error is in my router. I have enabled what i needed to do and everything for my router, windows also says that my router in compatible with the games for windows live software, but it isn't. I went to my fire station and tried it there and it worked like a charm. With that I was able to get the second, yes second, key code i needed to play the game. I haven't headed home yet though to see if I can still log into GFWL in-game to see if I can play. In my opinion, needing 2 key codes, and having to be logged into 2 things, just to save the game is ridiculous.
