Trouble adding this texture to my car skin. Can someone help?

Featured Replies

Hi. I wanted to make my car undercover & unmarked, so I took the texture from the car's skin and made it all black. Is that wrong? I imported it to the right place in SparkIV. SparkIV would not save or rebuild. This is my first time doing something like this. I attached the texture. I'm pretty stuck on this, so if someone could guide me as to what I'm supposed to do that's great.

Secondly if you are using SparkIV you need to make sure the edited texture is the same name as the one you wanna replace.

It's better of for* organization, but it's not an obligation. I often import textures with different names, as I often edit textures.

The only thing that matters is to be sure to put the texture in the correct slot. Just import and select the good file, whatever its name is.

*edit : sorry, tired ^^

It's the wrong size? Should be 2048x2048 for a car's external skin. Secondly if you are using SparkIV you need to make sure the edited texture is the same name as the one you wanna replace.

But I didn't change anything. Just the black and the license plate.

It's been a while since the last time I used SparkIV...don't remember much of it now. My bad! :p

Can you tell in details what you did (or post screenshots -in a spoiler tag- maybe), step by step ?

The original template had a few markings (text) on them. I went over them with the black paintbrush. I copied an image of the license plate, pasted it onto the image, and covered the existing one. Then I saved it. In SparkIV, I went to where I exported the original image, clicked edit, found where the image was, then clicked import and replaced the current one with the older one. I saved the skin. When I tried to rebuild or save, it wouldn't let me.

What image editor did you use ? Did you save the image in PNG format ?

When you say "it wouldn't let me", it was greyed out or you had an error message ?

I used Paint.NET. I saved it in PNG format. It was an error message.

Sorry, I meant to include it. It said it was unable to rebuild or save.

However, I just tried doing it again - there was no error. I can't start my game up now because I have a virus scan going on. (Slow computer.) I'll try to start it up and run it at a low FPS I guess, because all I need to know is if the skin works.

Sorry for the late response. It works fine. I don't know why or what happened, but it works. I didn't change anything with my original method, just tried doing it a few more times and that worked.

Thanks for your help though!
