XNetStartup Failed error

Featured Replies

I have followed the directions in this post  times and I have updated my framework to the latest version.

I think this problem was caused after I had moved some files around to install the Simple Native Trainer, but I really doubt it.

None of these have worked for me. What's odd about this is that GTA IV has been working fine ever since I've bought it. And yes, I did re-install the game. Still no luck.

So what your saying is that it could be the simple native trainer that's mucked things up? or is it the new verison your downloaded for xnet. only solution I can think of and which has helped me is

Reset your computer completely

or

uninstall game , rockstar and uninstall any mods.

start fresh. run the game for windows live etc save the first mission. exit and re-try. this has helped me. I had troubles for ages.

Anything else. just ask. Hopes this helps

Thing is, when I re-download all of the files from Steam it sort of just re-downloads everything I have before, including re-downloading my LCPDFR mod.

So you're suggesting to just uninstall everything? Remind me again, what do programs do I need to uninstall to be able to do a complete re-install?

oh u doing it through steam.... I have disc but it shouldn't matter. um my suggestion would be reset your pc cause it wipe all them little files that cause crashes make sure u back up anything  u want. um and start fresh that what I done and now ive been playing it for days nicely. good luck! that link I gave u download and install after reinstalling the game you need it to make everything work.

Alright, I'm going to completely re-install GTA IV and Steam. Thankfully It's night time so I can bear the long wait for downloading GTA as it'll happen over night.

Oh, and I just realized why Steam wasn't deleting my GTA files - I have to delete them myself(Which I'm sure you all know) manually. So hopefully this will help solve all of my problems.

I'll let you know in the morning if this works.

I appreciate the help!

Complete re-install worked. And I was able to instal the simple Native trainer as well as LCPDFR. Thanks!

Question, before the re-install my computer I used to run commandline.txt inside my GTA IV to make it windowed. the window was half-screen, in other words, just a small window. But now when I run GTA IV with commandline.txt after the re-install, the window covers the whole screen. How am I able to change the screen size?

So Apparently changing the screen resolution in game does the trick. I'm all good now, thank you!
