Traffic Flow R5 V2 - Very Long Cutscenes Loading Time

Featured Replies

Hello,

I downloaded the ultimate car pack v10 (it's a pack with vehicles, weapons, fancy scripts, trafficload etc..).

I didn't install some of those fancy scripts, especially the ones regarding being arrested for being over speed limit or not showing ID because it's just killing a lot of fun.

I got rid of TrafficLoad because i was experiencing texture issues.

Then I got the taxi bug thing so I installed Traffic Flow R2 and the traffic is perfect, it runs smooth and it's much better than trafficload in this regard...

...except for one thing (otherwise it's not funny) :

I am experiencing ridiculously long loading times for cutscenes.

ie 5 minutes to load the screen where you have the choice to either go for a "hot coffee" or say goodbye to your girlfriend.

10 min of loading time after one cutscene with Ray Boccino explaining the next mission to me etc.

I searched the forums and couldn't find someone who had the same issue.

Any one has an idea on how to fix this ?

I play on Asus g75 laptop:

Microsoft Windows 8
Intel Core i7 3630QM Quad Core 2.4GHz Processor
Mobile Intel HM77 Express Chipset
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670MX, with 3GB GDDR5 VRAM
16GB DDR3 1600MHz Memory
1 x 256GB SSD + 1TB Hard Drive

The ideal would be to make LCPDFR work with this vehicule pack (it's a pretty a good one) WITHOUT the taxi bug.

I don't want to use the trick where you edit cargrp.data because instead of having 1000 taxis I have 1000 feltzer or sultan or any one of the 10 - 20 cars in the taxi policycle thing.

I don't think it's related to my hardware configuration as it all runs smooth and nicely with traffic flow with all the settings set to maximum on big res (1920x1600).... apart for those loading times, and only for cut scenes as I don't experience it while loading the game, it just takes 5 seconds.

I read about the -nomemrestrict trick and will give it a try after work, see how it goes.

Thank you for your advices and:

Have Fun !

That vehicle pack is huge, the cars mid-high poly, and unless you have an uber rig, you're game will take forever to load, you're game will crash all over the place and I bet massive texture loss.  It basically mods a vast amount of cars, handling lines and at a higher poly count for each car.  Those cars spawn all the time, so unless you have a phat rig, don't bother.

Looks like a cool mod though, but too much hassle for mid-range gaming rig like mine.

Good day,

Try TrafficControlSystem.

Better alternative but for some reason crashes often on mine

Oh and btw, we have similar rig :D

Only difference is that I'm on GTX670M and running win 7

EDIT: oh and I only have 8GB of RAM and 750GB of SSH

So, yesterday evening I tried different things:

Chikamru Traffic : texture problems

TrafficFlow with Chiikamru commandline : texture problem after 20 min

I am afraid Dr Detroit is right and that I am just not equipped to be able to run such a vehicle pack.

I did a quick survey of the packs available and could only find very unrealistic packs with 50+ super cars.

All high poly indeed.

I'll have a go at Traffic Control System.

Do you have the link of a realistic vehicle pack not too demanding ?

@AgenBlaze

Cool that you have the same rig so I can ask you this question :

which vehicule pack are you using with wich taxi bug fix ?

What works on yours should work on mine =)

Thanks for your answers and...

... Have Fun !

I think you'll have issue modding with any massive vehicle pack.  GTAIV just doesn't like modded cars, it's a problem with just a few cop cars, modding all the AI vehicles that spawn constantly is not advised in my opinion, unless you have a really good rig like Nutt's specs, but even then you may have issues.  GTAIV just doesn't like modded cars.

Try modding one car type at a time and then play the game.  If no issues, then mod another, then play again.  Do that until your game starts messing up, then you know when it's time to stop adding cars.

I've used almost all the taxi bug fixes and the best one, with my rig, is Traffic Load and Chikmaru's Real Traffic.  I've been switching between the two.  Try Traffic Load, as it's easier on the system, and go into the .ini and play with the number of cars that spawn and the amount of ped and car traffic that spawns.  There is a tad bit of texture flashing after 45-minutes or so because I have my ped and car multiplier settings at 200%, but it's not bad as the textures pop back within a few milliseconds and the issue is not constantly occurring.

The other traffic/taxi bug fixes only offer like 20-cars that spawn (out of 80+ cars in-game) and the traffic spawns is in alleys, the beach and on the Boardwalk in Bohan...places where there should be no traffic at all.

Good day,

Yep.

I am afraid you are right.

I wanted to avoid the long process of adding cars one by one and just sit back enjoying other's work but...

being lazy won't pay off this time.

Now I have a question though.

If I understood well, the taxi bug occurs because the system chooses the lowest poly car available in the pool.

If I add a high poly modded car, will it decrease the chance it will spawn as it is more demanding for the system ?

Or is it more like a thereshold, once you go past it, you have taxis everywhere ?

Thanks for your answers,

Mazirian

For my system, when I added one mid-poly ELS car, that triggered the taxi bug.  Taxis' and cop cars as far as the eye can see, nothing else.  When I revert back to low poly cars (original cars or slightly high quality of the original cars) then I have no taxi bug issue.

Try modding one car, don't mod any other car, and see if you get the taxi bug.
