Fatal error smpa60 and multiplayer issue

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I am currently using the windows 8 pro.I have bought and installed gta iv. However, once I load up the game and go onto the mobile phone to go to multiplayer it seems to just "load" then it would say "disconnected from game session" and return me back to the single player mode. The only mods I have installed is the lcpd first response and I have one save game file. I have looked everywhere but cant seem to find a answer to either question.. Maybe someone here can shed some light.

Hi, did you read and tried anything explained here ?

It seems that you (maybe) have a modded car in a parking slot.

Edit : I had this error the first time I used LCPDFR, because I saved as a cop, not as Niko. Check that too.

yeah i done everything said, got to the point where i reinstalled the whole game lol. The error seems to be fixed (for now) but still have the issue of getting into multiplayer, updated everything. no avail tho, maybe its the microsoft software not signing me in during the game start up?

for those wondering, i figured it out.. there was a file called xlive.dll in my gta 4 folder on c drive, remove that file from there and then it will sign you in and plays on multiplayer. another quick question, how can I tell if the mod (cars) is gonna cause my game to crash or has not been updated? Is it just trial and error? To see which ones work and which dont? And also, what is dsound? sorry for the questions!

For the cars,  if you are replacing the usual police slots like Police, Police2, FBI, Noose, etc..,   you should be okay with the car/model downloads from LCPDFR.   I find the models are well tested here and the authors won't put up a lemon for you to download.

It is a bit of trial and error if you are replacing civilian cars because you wont find them here and it will depend on whatever quality control standards those other sites have on uploading.

Adding a lot of cars into the game can cause issues because GTA IV isn't well optimized.

( NOTE ** this may be different for every person,  i will edit in my pc specs later today.)

i can replace about 6-8 vehicles and have my vehicle.img file at around 135MB.   Still runs pretty good like it was unmodded.  No texture loss issues at all when playing.    Going over that 135MB will cause severe performance drops moreso than extra few cars for me.

ELS V6,  amazing mod for the lighting.   Turn this off for the AI if you have single player issues with crashing.   It rarely crashes me directly,   but yea i notice a few odd times as soon as i hit J for my lights i insta crash.   I dont recall it happening since i have been running with my newer PC.   Maybe related to the PC/Video Card performance once again.   Take it for whatever you will.

And if it is multiplayer,  you have your friends to play with.   Just turn the AI cops off so they dont do anything stupid and random to mess things.

LCPDFR is just an amazing mod,   have fun with it!
