What program to use to open up an .EXE file?

Forget Winrar, use something like 7zip which is really free and as good.

LCPDFR installer uses an archive icon because it just extracts merged files to the right place.

Well, download and install an archive extractor like 7zip or another one, and try again.

I'm not sure that you need an archive extractor because Windows already includes one (a poor one but it can handle simple tasks).

You can also try to use the compatibility mode (right click on the file, properties, compatibility, choose Vista if possible, or XP).

You can try to right click and select "solve compatibility issues" something like that, sorry my system is not in english.

If it doesn't solve the problem, check if you have all the required components like .NET Framework 4 Full and Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable.

You should have them if your Windows is updated and if you have other games installed. Check in your installed programs. If you don't have them use the links above.

Have you the same problem with other exe files ? Are you on Windows8 ?
