New guy on the block needs advice

how can i get the lights to come on when i turn on the siren?..i'm usding els 6 with LAPD emergency pack

Should be J to activate lights and K for traffic adviser   Alt+M will open the menu so you can adjust light settings using U for primary settings and I for TA settings.  I use ELSv5, I think it's the same basic keys although v6 has more to choose from.  If it crashes your game disable AI ELS and if that doesn't work use v5.

Good luck!

Tip: Before installing any mods via the steam version, you can have steam make a backup of the game files from which you can easily restore to if something goes wrong.

Didn't know that either.  I will use that feature next time so I can save the disk space.

Thanks.

TIP:  Install one mod at a time, then play for a bit.  This will ensure that the mod works, and if it bugs out your game you can remove it.  When you install several mods at once, if you have a proble

Was not aware of that.  Thanks for the tip!

Does steam actually replace the messed up files or would I have to DL the entire game content to replace and fix?

Good day,

DrDetroit

I believe it does, not sure though.  You can DL a 100% save game if it doesn't.

By the time I found LCPDFR, I had completed all three GTAIV versions several times.

BTW:  Did you buy the expansion TLATD and TBOGT?

Good day,

DrDetroit

Yes just right click on GTA IV in your library and go to properties/localfiles/ then click verify integrity of game cache and it will automaticly restore your game (it does have to download missing files :P)

thanks guys..i played with keys and found that by pressing ALT+T allows the lights to come on when you turn the siren on with G

Just look for the ini file (ELS ini) and the keys you use should be listed there.  You can change them as well in that ini file if needed.

i have tried to add a 100% saved game file but when i try to play the saved game it fails to load and says to check hard drive, any idea why that won't load..i can still play games that i have saved perfectly fine

You need to use the xliveless ASI loader to use downloaded savegames. xliveless turns off Games for Windows Live, which is how it checks to see that you're loading your own savegame. If you use xliveless, multiplayer won't work, but you need it to use 100% savegames.

Also, LCPDFR unlocks all islands. The only part of the story you have to finish is the first mission; once you finish that, it doesn't matter how much more you do.

You have to press ALT+Delete to active a new call out using Braveheart script.  They do not just pop-up like the call-outs generated by LCPDFR.  I generally shut off the LCPDFR call-outs using F7 and I hit the ALT+DEL to activate  Bravehearts callouts.
