Where do I find it?

Featured Replies

I am curious as to where I could find information about which streaming sound files work for which car(engine noise ect). I would also like to know how simple it is to change light patterns for ELS and finally is it easy to adjust the cars specs (top speed most specifically) or is that done with the handling.dat?

One last thing, how many vehicles can i replace before the game begins to act up? (crash ect)

Vehicle noise index: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=503904

Top speed is velocity in KM/H and found in handling.dat. The game will not 100% stick by what you put in there though, as top speed is not only decided by velocity, but a number of factors.

This should help (It's entitled "Handling.dat Explained!"): http://www.gtagaming.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118800

How many vehicles depends on if your using ELS or not. If you are, the vehicles that have their lightbars switched on and never shut off never tend to de-spawn, thus clogging up the game's memory with unnecessary values.

If you call for backup or prisoner transport here's a tip, do not drive away from the cop car while it's lightbar is on and the cops have disembarked, doing this will despawn the AI cops that get back in the car to shut the lights off. With that done, the police car will lie there with its lights on for the rest of the game until you do something like get in it and turn them off. But just stay a minute or two and wait for the AI to get back in the car with the prisoner and shut off the lights.

I only mod my Police if I can help it, when I started using NYC taxis my textures started to go missing.

I only plan to use the police cars for ELS, but I wanted to add a couple sports cars, and already added a Dodge Ram 3500 and an F250. I just dont want the game to go unstable and crash.

You shouldn't have a problem replacing cars in your game, but depending on your specs you may receive texture loss, etc from replacing too many cars. I've replaced all the police vehicles with ELS vehicles - no problem whatsoever. With my specs (16GB DDR3 RAM, 3.4GHZ quad-core processor, 2GB 1084MHZ video card) I rarely crash using ELS, can play for hours on till I do.

That is only for ELS v5 one of the older versions of ELS (V6 I think). In ELS v6 v6.1, ELS cars can despawn.

Am I able to change which sound file a certian car uses?

Yes, the fifth value in vehicle.ide.

Like:

police(model name),      police(carcol),            car,          POLICE(handling),         POLICE(sound).
