Law Enforcement Stories

Featured Replies

Obviously I'm not in Law Enforcement myself, and I honestly don't ever plan to be, but I still take in interest in what most members in this community do, and that's Police Cars, Uniforms, and for some, Weapons.

I've lived in my current city for 10 months now after moving from another city an hour away. And since that time, there have been a couple interesting things I've noticed about the city's Police Department.

1. I was driving by on the highway one afternoon, and saw somebody pulled over by an undercover '08 Impala, which had cool interior lighting, one of those moments you hate the fact you're driving away from it. It was then I figured our PD must have a 10 different car fleet, as I've seen Tahoes, Tauruses, Crown Vics, Chargers, Suburbans, all with varying Liveries (Some have black skins, some white).

2. I also drove by some sort of stakeout/takedown the other day on a busy street, I figured it was either a drug bust, since there were undercover Cops and Vehicles surrounding this house.

3. Off topic from Law Enforcement, but the other day the house across my apartment's Parking Lot (60 ft away) caught on fire, and within minutes there were police vehicles and fire trucks lining up, and eventually they blocked off the lower half of one of the busiest streets in the area. (The firefighters contained the fire and there was only minor fire damage, the smoke damage would have to be the worst of it).

So, there seems to be a good amount of interesting things that happen in and around the city I live in, so it's pretty cool to live here.

Anyway, the point of this thread is to see what interesting personal stories others have seen around where they live, so..what have you seen?

Walking home with some friends, it was around 12:00am so the roads were quiet.

Suddenly we hear this deathly loud noise behind us. We turn around and see a car approaching which we determined was probably a classical car due to the noise it was making. When it got closer we noticed it was actually a rather recently Vauxhall (Opel) Astra with it's wishbone snapped in half and the entire section of the front left wheel missing.

The driver got out and stumbled off, the car stunk of alcohol. I dialed 999 and the Roads Policing Unit soon arrived in their sexy BMW Estate (Marked). They spoke to us whilst another unit arrested the drunk driver just further down the road.

Well about a month ago, I was on a ride along with a police department by me. We get a call to assist with a high risk traffic stop. So we end up going code 3 to the scene and we arrive about 2 minutes later. Was really cool going lights and sirens through heavy traffic as it was rush hour. We were the 4th car to arrive soon after about 4 other squads arrived to help close down the free way because this high risk traffic stop involved a man with a gun.  So they get everyone out at gun point and cuff them. Later I was informed that the driver pointed a gun at a 6 year old and a 8 year old well driving down the road because they made funny faces at them.

1. I live in a fairly decent neighborhood, though we still have our crooks. You can't help that. A few years ago, I was walking home from school, when I saw a huge array of Toronto Police, Ambulance and the local news station's trucks near an apartment. I didn't know what the big deal was until I turned on the TV. Apparently, a stabbing had taken place in the apartment building about 500 from where I live. It was scary.

2. Another time, I was driving by a local shop when I saw 2 police cars, lights flashing parking as what I called it at the time as "Hollywood Style". I didn't know what the ruckus was about. I looked and I saw this tall, thin man, no older than 30 being handcuffed by the Police. I still don't know what it was about.

3. Oh shoot, this was a big one. There was recently a HUGE snowstorm about a month ago. I was in Quebec for my Grad trip. We had to drive home in that hell of a storm. Literally every 10km, we would see a new accident. I got to see the Quebec Provincial Police (Cannot remember the actual name), many major ones. There was one right along the border of Quebec and Ontario, there were both agencies there since it was right on the border. I thought it was pretty cool.

Well not a police story, but a security story.

One night I was assigned to a Car lot for an over night post. My orders were to conduct patrols from 0100-0900. So I was patroling all night, and with It was very quiet the first night, i had calucaled i was guarding about $15,000,000US worth of Cars. On the 2nd night at about 0345, while patrolling A car alarm had gone off, when I investigated, a heavy set hispanic male was attempting to steal a $30,000 SUV. So I called it in and pursued him on foot, he ended up getting to a fence and hopped it. I couldnt pursue any farther. =/ The one that got away!

I was working at a movie theater, and I had some assault a female, and another male, and I apprehended him, my backup arrived took custody while I looked after the victims, when i returned my backup had let him go... SMH

Was working at a local courthouse one winter day and I decided to grab lunch across the street; As I stepped outside (I'm at the front door of the courthouse) there was a guy in front of me asking if I wanted to purchase some meth/heroin/crack (I don't remember what it was), I looked at him and said no, he continued to ask if I wanted to buy some "really good sh**"; I looked at him again and slowly produced my warrant card. He looked at me with this confused, shocked look turned around and was met by a colleague of mine who just so happened to overhear our "conversation".

Another day, we had this kid who had just turned 18 the day before walk through our security metal detectors and he set the thing off. We thought, Ok maybe he had some change, a belt, and keys whatever that he forgot to take off. We asked him to empty his pockets and walk through the gates again, same thing he set the thing off, we proceeded (as per policy) to use the hand held wand and again he set the thing off. Now were asking the guy politely to empty whatever he has in his pockets, he starts getting really defensive and starts sweating (At this point were still asking him politely, none of us had raised our voices and we weren't suspecting anything). He starts yelling at us how we can't prove anything, he doesn't have anything for about five minutes, we get irritated and basically told him that whatever he has isn't going to be that bad. Guy pulls out a clear plastic bag with about 10 pounds of weed because he was going to sell it right after he his charges for an earlier theft were to be withdrawn.

One of my best friends one February day was writing some guy a ticket. All of a sudden he hears this loud crash, he turns around and sees that someone had just dented a parked vehicle; my buddy goes up to him and asks if he's ok and if he needs an ambulance, guy says no and he's fine. My buddy turns around and proceeds to write his ticket when he hears another crash, he again turns around and the very same guy has just crashed into the parked vehicle behind him; My buddy calmly walks over and asks if the guy has any identification and asks to see his insurance, proof of ownership etc. Buddy comes clean and tells my friend that he had just stolen the vehicle, my friend then proceeds to run his name and the guy has something like 99 Charges for Auto-Theft and five different Bench Warrants.
