What is Los Angeles County Police ?

 

What is their purpose and their juridiction while LAPD, LASD and other Sheriff Departements operates in LA County ?

I'm not american, and I can't find any documentation about it online, I just only stumbled on those kind of images of Crown Victoria :

I know that California had a State police differentiated of the CHP that was disbanded and incoporated by the CHP in the 90's, is that maybe a similar thing that happened to the LACPD, or are they like a "state police" but for a county ?
