Weird glitch on cars

Featured Replies

Hey guys!

I have a weird glitch on my cars that appears and disappears randomly. And I'm not the only one affected by it, even the NPCs are suffering from it. I've never seen this anywhere and it's so weird that it's hard to describe, hence even googling hasn't yielded any results. So I decided to make a video of it to showcase the trouble exactly. It can only be described as this weird "smoke shadow" that appears to have an emitter (or two) on the hood of the affected cars and permeates the body, most prominently the roof. Also, while it's active, it feels like there's some invisible object with collisions under the cars or something since they get scratches on the roof or even sometimes under the body. I can even hear them as I drive around since it feels like a detached door somehow got stuck inside or under the car and is being dragged along. It even leaves scratches. But the scratches or the smoke only appear once I start driving. Sometimes it randomly fixes itself too. Although, I can sometimes hear the collision bit of the glitch even when the car is stopped.

Anybody have any clues as to what this is supposed to be? As you can see, this glitch appears irrespective of the car model.

That is the shadow of the trees above you, because the graphic quality is too low, it looks like "smoke."

And the "smoke" under the car is dirt, because you were off-roading.

It is likely caused by the vehicle model itself, it's either a faulty model or a poorly optimized one.

While you are in motion, the shadows near your car move with you.

Issues that are present on unoptimized vehicle models are more noticeable while in motion, I recommend replacing those cars with a high-quality model from an experienced developer.

I do not have any trees above me from 0:18 to 0:30 or at 0:51. I've had this happen consistently even in the Grand Senora Desert. My graphics are set to high or very high in some places. It's the compression of the video that looks low quality because I rendered an mp4 with H264 codec.

Also the collision happens consistently with modded vehicles. During my latest patrol, one of my partners kept getting ragdolled everytime she tried exiting the vehicle. Eventually she sustained so much damage that she died trying to get out of the vehicle. Note that this was a vehicle not showcased in the video.

EDIT: Apparently, I'm not the only one with this issue

That post says turning down Particle Effects from Very High (which I have) to High solved the issue. I'll have to look into it.

EDIT2: Turning down Particle Effects to High indeed fixed the issue.
