Cannot change department

Featured Replies

When I installed LSPDFR I went into Rockwood Hills to go on duty and was thus bound to that department. I have since gone to almost every other department in an effort to change that and it still puts me on duty as RHPD. Does anyone have any solutions?

You should be able to change dept. as you like(?) You cant witch Makes me wonder if you have installed your user-files into Windows-program-files. Then Windows will prevent you from making changes.
Your profile file(s) are (Your characters name).ls
(rubbish removed)

As many times as I have uninstalled and reinstalled this game this is the first time that this has happened to me. I'm not sure what you mean by this though. I have my game and files installed into my D:\ drive and I've had them there every time I've installed. If there is some way I can edit/change file permissions please let me know.

.ls files can be edited with notepad, so you can change your characters dept. with an edit.

I tried editing my .ls character file with Notepad, Notepad++ and Open IV and each time the file produced unrecognizable script characters.

🤐 My bad
Sorry. I was thinking about a different file.

No they cant be edited
But what permissions do you have in your characters-folder?

Make sure you have full writing rights, elese changes cant be saved.
When was your character.ls last saved?
Does that fit the last change you made to your character?
One last option...
In the Characters-folder there is one Character-file for each defined character, but also a .BAK file. The .BAK file may be uncorrupted so you should try and rename the .ls-file to .old, and change the .bak file to .ls
Then retry your game. That could work  -maybe..

Oddly enough, I did find a solution. When I was using ForceDuty I noticed that it wasn't spawning me in default police clothing just regular street clothes. Long story short, for the first time since I've started playing the game, I need to go to whatever station I want to switch to, select a preset EUP and pick a car. If I don't do all of that my game doesn't change the department. The first time I just selected EUP and not the car and it still didn't work. I have to do that specific sequence or it won't change
