GTA IV: Nothing But Errors

Hello there, sorry to bother you all today.

Last Thursday, I received GTA IV. I've had nothing but errors. I'll explain what happened before I head on and explain.

I installed GTA IV.

Got "FATAL ERROR: WS10" every time I tried playing.

I eventually fixed it (but I forgot how since that was Thursday)

Then I got the error "SecuLauncher: Failed to start application (2000)"

Apparently GTA IV was supposed to be installed in C:Program Files and I had it installed in E:Program Files (x86) so I switched it (had to reinstall game)

After re-installing the game, it gave me the WS10 error again.

I installed patch 7. Nothing still.

I fixed it by using xliveless (but I want to play multiplayer so I'm trying to find an alternative to that)

Game started! :) I did the cousins bellic mission. Then I exited and went to install LCPDFR.

LCPDFR installed successfully. But then every time I tried to start the game, it opened a black command prompt in the top-left then closed, then nothing.

Here's where I am today.

Got home from school, re-installed GTA IV.

WS10 FATAL ERROR again.

Re-installed GFWL - nothing.

Installed patch 7 (the setup never worked for me so I just got someone else to extract it then give the files to me)- start game through social club, asks me to login, click play and it successfully logs in, gives me the reading disc icon, then NOTHING

Any suggestions? thanx

EDIT: I tried running it from GTAIV.exe instead of LaunchGTAIV.exe and it gives me "GTA IV FATAL ERROR: DFA did not initialize properly. Please make sure you are using LaunchGTAIV.exe to launch the game." And then after that I tried LAUNCHGTAIV.exe and my computer did the "GTA IV has stopped working. Windows is looking for a solution for the problem" After that, it did the same thing as before - makes me login to social club, reads disc, then NOTHING.

Note: I am running GTA IV in compatibility mode for Windows Vista SP2. And here are my PC specs as I forgot to mention them:

Grand Theft Auto IV version 1.0.7.0

Windows 8 64-bit

Intel i5 3570k 3.40GHZ quad-core

EVGA GeForce GTX670 FTW Signature 2 1084MHZ 2GB 6.0GHZ

120GB SSD + 2TB HDD (I run GTA IV from my SSD as it is my C drive)

Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H Motherboard (using integrated sound)

Samsung SH-224BB 24x SATA DVD WRITER

16GB DDR3-1600 RAM

Thanx

With 25 seconds in google I found this, WS-10 error is related to GFWL. To troubleshoot it, it says to try and install GFWL from outside the game via the microsoft website. Maybe you tried that, idk. Try updating your .NET Framework also.

Also DSOUND is the alternative to xliveless so try that. If xliveless is the only thing that seems to work for you and you've exhausted all roads then you may just have to stick to xliveless but you won't be able to play online. There were a few fixes I saw on youtube when I searched so you might try those at your own risk. Google gta 4 ws10 error and check out the results. You might find something there

Windows 8 comes with .NET Framework 4, I believe. I've tried installing 3.5 and it says I already have a more updated version.

Yes, I've tried troubleshooting GFWL through Microsoft's website.

I've tried what they said to do one here.... I'm gonna download xliveless and try it again but I have a feeling it may not work. WIll report back once I try.

But like stated in my thread, I noticed before, that once installing LCPDFR my game didn't want to run....

I've tried what they said here (http://support.rockstargames.com/entries/479465-ws10-error-in-gta-iv) and I've been googling all weekend....

Thanks!

Windows 8 might be your problem. I know some people on here were reporting issues with getting IV and FR to work with W8. You might try searching the forum for those threads and see if you can find any help there or try contacting those who had/fixed their problem.

Now I tried with xliveless, it does the same thing.

Start RGSC, play GTA IV, log in, nothing happens after......

I think it's an issue with patch 7, because before patch 7 I never had to login to rockstar social games before...... this is completely stupid. I'm about to email rockstar games support.
