Game crashing

Featured Replies

My game keeps crashing and I am not sure why. I tried loading game with and without plugins to see if it was a plug-in issue. I have not changed anything in the game since the latest update. Scripthook and rage plug in are both up to date. I have attached the crash report. I would appreciate any help thank you.

Go to your commandline.txt file found in the main directory and clear its contents. Do not delete the file itself.

I tried that and it still froze on the loading story page and then crashed.

Could contain: text, display device, monitor, television set, video, media, flat panel display, screenshot, led-backlit lcd display, multimedia, indoor, television, person

Please ensure that nothing new has been created with the previous instructions and generate a new log by simply launching the game. Also try launching without RPH and see if the game loads.

Tried launching just the grand theft auto by itself and it still crashed.

Rename your mods folder to _mods and see if the game loads from there. If it loads successfully, you have an issue with your mods folder. Undo any changes you have done previously, such as changes to your update.rpf file, and try again. If it does not load successfully after renaming the mods folder, please attach a new rage log as you did when you created the post.

I renamed the mods folder and it seemed to work. Could the issue be a vehicle that was added to Open IV or would it just be in the main game directory mods folder and not in open IV

Both mods folders are the same essentially, though OpenIV allows you to see the contents of the files. Any changes you have done to any file within the mods folder could be causing this, such as changes to your update.rpf files (typically the culprit). Unfortunately with mods there is nothing exactly saying what the file is that is causing the issue. If there are any mods that may need to be updated that became broken after your update could also be the culprit, but again there isn't necessarily any telling unfortunately.

My simple recommendation would be to undo any changes you have done recently to the mods folder, through OpenIV.

Okay. We took out the new vehicles because that is the only thing we have changed and it still didn't work.

Hi there,

Unfortunately, your most realistic fix is that you delete your old mods folder, and create a new one. I know, bummer.

if you're unable to pinpoint what exactly is causing the crash it may be near impossible to salvage it.
