Cop doesn't know the law

Featured Replies

Just saw this on my recommended videos on youtube because I had watched "GTA 4 300 Spoof" .. No idea how they relate but I watched it anyway.

Post Edited. I realize now how I got the wrong impression. American cops operate very differently in terms of traffic stops to British Officers.. You'll now find a video in its place that shows complete idiocy. This guy is a veteran officer

To avoid further conflictions;

Most fire crews, worldwide, will position the truck so it can provide the most safety when operating on a highway (a crash for example)

These firefighter's did just that, and as one was treating a injured car crash victim, he was arrested.

Needless to say, the cop was soon fired from his job

Not my video.

And a extra:

Guy pulls over a deputy sheriff for speeding

Probably a newbie, give him a break. Now that guy was being a total d***. I'd pull him out at gunpoint at the window part already.

Harper,

Being a "part-time" cop myself I think the cop in the first clip makes perfect sense and is in his right to do as he do. If its criminal to refuse to sign, BUT you still have the option to refuse then yes it warrants a possible citation. Would I personally have issued a citation when he agreed to sign the second time?. Most likely not. Sometimes its just not worth the hassle and potential trouble chasing 1-2 extra citations "just because you can".

I mean if people are being snipe and rude, then by all means book them for everything you can. But if people are being sensible and reasonable there is not reason to hit them with every citation that you can.

If I was the officer in the second video I would've immediately arrested him. Arsehwole.

I agree with you fully.

But as someone above stated, I now realize how the officer in the first video was a rookie. It seems to me that he's starts getting nervous.. who knows, it could be his first traffic stop.

You can clearly see what I mean when at first he says "You don't have to sign it.. I'm not forcing you" then later he says "Its a criminal offence not to sign it" - In the UK, we don't get them to sign it, we just hand them a ticket and if they fail to pay the fine it'll end up in court.

So you can see why I'd got the wrong impression.

Anyways, to clear the air, I wasn't trying to shame the officer. The topic title was just the video title.

I'll edit my first post to clear a paragraph or so.

I feel bad for the officer who was issuing the citation. He seemed nervous and I'm guessing was new. Now he may not have worded things in a way that made perfect sense but I still understood what the cop was talking about.

I've seen the first video before and the Police Officer was wrong for arresting any of the fire crew members. Safety is more important than fast traffic flow and he was interfering with patient treatment.

I'm not going to MMQB on the second or third video.
