£1 Fish Man

Featured Replies

This London fish stand owner, Muhammad Shahid Nazir, made this single two weeks ago to promote his business. Since then, it has gone viral on Youtube, hitting over 9 million views and a spot in the UK Top 40. It has been hailed by NBC as the new "Gangnam Style". He is now being welcomed back as a hero to his native Eastern Pakistan. In addition, he has landed a record deal and will be travelling to promote his single (which is now on iTunes).

I won't lie, it's pretty catchy, especially with his Punjabi accent.  :whistling:

Same beat as Gangam (Or however you spell/pronounce it), stupid dance style that is sure to catch on like the macarana (Idiotic 90s song), hot girls to lure puburity hitting teens into clicking on his video, and a song where you can't understand a single word he's saying.

Every time I hear one of theese songs I ask my self this question: Why? It's not really THAT catchy, the dance is pretty stupid, and you can't understand what they're saying.  I never got theese "Internet sensation" videos and I didn't get gangam style. I don't understand how North Americans can be so droned by videos like this, but then yet again we've proven just how idiotic we can be towards media. I will state it is some what funny with his accent and the subject matter. But after watching this video I felt nautious, that chicken enchilada I ate could be the culprit, or the song (I think it's the song).

That's just my two cents (Not trying to be mean, if you like the song, then hey like it. That's your choice). Call me a "Hipster"/Old man, and I'll keep telling you to get off my lawn .

Thanks for sharing though.

Edit: After watching the second video you put up I will admit he has a good voice and the back story is nice, I'll give him credit for that :D.

The only reason the video is popular is because it's quite funny. I mean, you don't see a guy from Pakistan singing about 1 pound fish to attract laddies very often...

I can agree/understand that.

I like the weird style of music, where the same verse repeats. I know, its pretty weird. I like songs like Chacarron Macarron, and that style. Though, I also like Punjabi music, since it plays a lot in my house, so it is the best of both worlds for me. The women top off the cake, since I am in that group that Jam is talking about.

Though, I do hate when the stupidest types of music goes viral, due to the fact it doesn't take that much work to say the same verse over and over again, yet songs that have true meaning, and great lyrics stay in the shadow of songs that don't make any sense.

I do believe the "Artist" made it as a joke, he has a decent fan base now, and gained business to his fish stand, which was his intention.
