The Crown Vic, Lincoln Town Car and New York; and now what?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, the other day I came across this article about the impact the Ford Crown Victorias and the Town Cars have had in New York City. In sum, after these all years using them, apart of having become in one of the city symbol now they wonder if they will find between the eco-crappy cars any replacement as good as the Vic and Town Car were.

The article, of the NY Times, it's a bit old, but I found it very interesting, and I think you should check it out: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/26/nyregion/26towncar.html?_r=0

I recall seeing this article when I went searching for source material with my Washington "Town Car" taxi. I was just up in NYC in March of this year and they're still holding their presence strongly, though its a logical step towards replacing them with more eco-friendly cars.

That reminds me, I'm releasing that Town Car regardless of that minor issue with the destination marker...look for it soon.

An honest shame; being that the last Crown Vic rolled off the assembly line on September 15th, 2011, they will no doubt soon be a thing of the past.  I am an incredibly large fan of the panther platform as a whole; the good thing is that it seems that they will be sighted on the road for quite some time as parts are plentiful and they just don't die.  Hoping to snag one as my first car.

I bet CVs will be one of the highest bid-for cars in near future, with the bidders treating them as rare popular classics.

I don't see this happening immediately; perhaps for a bit longer.  Look at what happened to the 1991-1996 9C1 Caprice; they were plentiful and well loved right after discontinuation though are difficult to find in good shape nowadays.  Here's hoping the CVPI will have better luck.
