New plugins cause game crash, crashes persist after removing plugins

Featured Replies

So here's a weird one... Just a couple hours ago I was playing LSPDFR and everything was generally working fine.  When I went to get back on a few minutes ago I decided to add two new callout packs: CalloutsT and Dangerous Callouts (linked below).  When I tried to go on duty (whether by using the ForceDuty command or by going into a police station), the game would start loading LSPDFR plugins, then give me the lovely chirp that means something crashed, display a message that LSPDFR crashed, continue loading plugins for 3-5 more seconds, then the game would crash entirely.  I figured one of the new callout packs was causing the issue, so I removed one, then the other, and finally removed both.  But removing the only logical causes of the problem has not solved the problem, and my game still crashes in the exact same manner.  It doesn't even leave a log every time, but I attached a recent one; the console appears to show the same sequence / errors every time.

I know I have some outdated plugins (and I'm pretty sure even LSPDFR itself is outdated, I'm just not quite sure how to update it without wiping everything out), but let me reiterate that everything was working until installing these two callout packs.  I've pretty much always been able to troubleshoot game crashes myself successfully, but this completely baffles me - how could plugins cause a crash after being removed?

Thank you in advance for any help/suggestions.

The problem is that you are using an outdated version of LSPDFR. One of your plugins is using an updated API call, which is failing because that method does not exist in your version.

Aside from this, you can no longer mix and match game versions and expect LSPDFR to work correctly. LSPDFR in general needs to be tuned to the game version, due to some advanced features. Patterns are failing to resolve, which will cause undefined behavior:

Adding on to what Cyan said above, make sure to look at this:

PoliceSmartRadio may start malfunctioning. This is because Traffic Policer was removed. If you don't use this mod too much, i'd suggest removing it or re-installing it while making sure to remove all of the Traffic Policer related files.

You can also opt to keep Traffic Policer at a cost of FPS and wasted performance power. StopThePed is much better and replaced this plugin.

(Recommended) -> The last option is removing Albo's plugins (Traffic Policer & PoliceSmartRadio) and using the GrammarPolice built-in radio. It's not as nice as PSR's interface (my opinion), but it does the job & it's much more modern/updated.

Thanks for the replies!  I'm not too good at understanding these log files, so you've been super helpful.

I don't even remember what Traffic Policer does, so I'll definitely be removing that!  And thanks so much DarkVyper for the suggestion to use GrammarPolice instead of PoliceSmartRadio – I didn't know GrammarPolice had an onscreen radio.

How do I go about updating LSPDFR without causing errors or having to redo a ton of mods (Jurisdictions+ for example, was a huge pain getting the XMLs right with it not being updated for the latest EUP)?  The last time LSPDFR required an update it just so happened that I had some issue requiring me to reinstall GTA V anyway, so I'm not actually sure how to go about just updating it.  Is it okay to just use the .exe installer?  I can't figure out what files have actually been updated.

That's how LSPDFR is. Works like a charm when it works,  but can be a pain to maintain.

Also just a sidenote, if you like the darker radio interface of PoliceSmartRadio, GrammarPolice has a changeable radio skin. Just download this image (make sure the downloaded image is named "frame.png"), and drop it into Grand Theft Auto V\plugins\LSPDFR\GrammarPolice\textures\radio\. Overwrite the file.
