RAGE Plugin Hook Refuses to Start when I click on it

Featured Replies

Hello, everyone.

I recently reinstalled GTA V with no other mods besides LSPDFR, and when i click on RPH, it shows up in windows task manager for about 4 seconds then it closes. The first instance of this issue happened once it finished the "determining game branch" screen, then it closed itself. Ever since then, I cannot get RAGE to start at all. I've played LSPDFR in the past and i have never had this issue until now.

Here's what I've tried so far, with no success:

-Whitelisting RPH on both AVG Antivirus as well as Windows Firewall (the only two firewalls i have)

-Running RPH as an administrator

-Running RPH in compatibility mode for Windows 7 (yes, i still have windows 7)

-Running vanilla GTA V then starting RPH (GTA 5 itself runs fine with minimal FPS drops)

-Running RPH via a desktop/taskbar shortcut

I am running the newest version of GTA V (2628) on Windows 7.

Also, RPH is missing the .ini and the .log files, I am assuming because I cant get it to run, therefore i cant get it to set up.

Any ideas on what to try next?

Thanks In advance.

I would recommend running through the following list and if there is something you have already tried double check it.
1. Load GTA 5 first. Then, once in-game, tab out and launch RPH.
2. Go into the CommandLine.txt file in your main GTA directory and delete everything inside the file and then add `-windowed` and save and exit the document. Then retry step 1.
3. Add the GTA V folder your antivirus's exclusions list. Then restart your computer.
4. Disable any in-game overlay such as Discord, Steam, OverWolf, or Nvidia GeForce Experience.
5. **If you tried everything above and it still doesn't work**:  Follow the instructions on page 4 <https://bit.ly/3FLBASB>.

Do you have your anti virus on when trying to run it? Sometimes I have to disable it for it to run. I would disable it temporarily of course.

I would highly recommend against ever fully disabling your antivirus - unless you are getting the false positive trojan block on ragepluginhook

actually your computer is worthless for hackers unless you are some sort of governemnt agent (shouldn't they have work-only computers?) or a high level staff holding valueable info in a company.

if you are not downloading things from untrustful sites, your computer is safe

That's not hugely true, an average computer is still very useful, people could use it to access your bank account, or just make it join a botnet to attack others.

The scary matter of fact though, is that if somebody wants to infect you, they're likely to send you something fairly unique that won't trigger antivirus.

Absolutely does no harm disabling it whilst playing LSPDFR, offline. If you read correctly I said temporarily disable it. I also meant by adding it to an exclusion list via antivirus. You also have windows defender as a back up as well.
