GTA IV FATAL ERROR WS10

Featured Replies

I installed a fresh copy of GTA IV and installed every thing. I used a 100% legit copy of the game on Windows 7 SP1. After all the install when I click on the icon to run the game a black window along with a error message saying GTA IV FATAL ERROR WS10 pops up. I already tried reinstalling the game. Help?

Try downloading this: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/pc/downloadclient

Also by simply Googling "gta iv ws10", you get Rockstar's official support page with multiple solutions: http://support.rockstargames.com/entries/479465-ws10-error-in-gta-iv

I have windows 8 and I had the same problem not too long ago, here's what I did, though it may not work for you.

1. Un-install all the games for windows live crap in your programs.

2. Re-install GFWL from http://www.rockstargames.com/support/IV/PC/GFWLupdate/

3. Find your GTAIV.exe in under C:Program Files (x86)Rockstar GamesGrand Theft Auto IV and right-click it, choose compatibility options and set it to Windows Vista SP2.

If you have a 32-bit OS then take the (x86) out of program files.

4. Install patch 4 (nothing newer than patch 4, we'll get to that in a sec) http://www.gamefront.com/files/13914788/Grand_Theft_Auto_IV_PC_Patch_v__1_0_4_0

5. Start up GTA IV. Login/register for GFWL in-game. It will then ask for an update. It will automatically install patch 1.0.7.0

6. Play GTA IV!

Some times you may encounter errors when starting GTA IV after you install mods. ex: "Access Denied" or some crap like that. I fixed this just by running LaunchGTAIV.exe as an admin.

If that does not work, then restart the above steps but download GFWL here instead: http://www.xbox.com/en-CA/Live/PC/DownloadClient

The reason I say download patch 4 is because the other patches didn't want to work for me but patch 4 finally did.

I hope this works for you!

I am getting both of these issues Can someone help me?

Not trying to push and old topic

Then why post? This topic is over a year old (nearly two years if you go back to the OP). I'll give you a solution though: try removing all, or at least some, of your mods. Install them one by one to find out what may be causing the problem. If you still have issues create your own topic.

Nothing to see here!
