Question About Updating

Featured Replies

Hey folks, sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, wasn't sure if it would go here or in support...

Anyways, this is my first time using LSPDFR when a new version launched, so I've never updated before, and I just have a simple question; does updating remove or overwrite plugins, skins, vehicles, stuff like that? I have several plugins, vehicle replacers, sound replacers, weapon replacers, etc. and really don't want to lose them, so I'm not sure if I should back up all those first. It would take me a while to track down every mod, plugin, and replacer I used and I'd really like to avoid that.

Also while I'm at it, does anyone who uses Cop Holster know how it interacts with the new feature in 4.8 that's basically the same thing? Thanks!

You will not lose any of that directly. What I mean by that, is that certain plugins could in theory be incompatible with the new version, albeit very unlikely. It will not affect vehicles, skins and such in any way.

Please do not PM me unless really necessary (knowing you helps). If you think you need my attention in a topic, tag me.

Awesome, thanks! Actually the only reason I'm updating right now is because I tried to play today and all my plugins alerted me there was a new version for 4.8, so no issues there, thanks!

Where you would have some problems is when there is a Rockstar update.  The major Rockstar updates the update.rpf, where you have a copy of that in your mods folder.  Then your game won't.  Open OIV and it will tell you there is a new update.rpf and do you want to copy it to your mods folder.  You'll have to do that but then some of your plugins/mods might not work.  Your DLC list gets updated so if you have add in those vehicles like Coroner if you have an add on coroner vehicle.  I think that's not an issue if you use LML.  I still haven't tried LML so I'm not sure of the difference.  I use Albo's modding DLC pack for my add on vehicles.  But, that is something to keep in mind next time there is a big Rockstar update.
