LAPD Issue Sidearm?

Yeah probably, all the boroughs are going to get them soon, some boroughs have already kitted up with tasers (Bromley, Harrow, Barking & Dagenham, Enfield and Kingston).

Notice the use of "less-lethal" in the article, over the term "less than lethal" applied to most weapons of that sort. Taser's have actually killed a few people as well, so I'm really not too sure how well that will go down.

I agree with you...a quick zap to the balls with a taser and he'd be down. But were british so we use a bin :) lol

We do have special task forces that use weapons "CO19" but mostly if the shit goes down they use tasers :/ fail in my opinion for example I dont know if you know who Raul Moat is but basically he shot 3 or 4 people and went on a rage shooting a policeman in the eye in turn making him go blind

so the police responded with taser shotuguns......seriously!!!!

It's better to let the justice system do its way, rather than take the system into your own hands if you can prevent lethal weapons from being used in a safe manner, it's better.

Something came out wrong there.

Also, "less lethal" vs. "less-than-lethal" seems more like a terminology thing than anything else (like SWAT vs. SRT).

Likelihood. Are you more likely to kill someone shooting them? Or more likely to kill them with a tazer? It's common sense. People's immediate reaction to violence, especially police officers, is to open fire. I'd rather be armed with a tazer than a pistol, more often useful than a sidearm.

I don't understand what you're trying to say here. I think we're talking past each other.

What I'm saying is that "Less Lethal" force should take priority rather than just shooting people. A Police officer job is to enforce the laws of the legislature, and make sure violators are prosecuted in the judicial system. Lethal force should be a very last resort, which has not always been the case.

You are 100% right :)

And I was saying that "less-than-lethal" and "less lethal" are two terms for the same thing.

Also, the reason I was saying that armed officers should have come was partly because, according to others, only armed officers carried tasers.

Not everywhere has the severity of armed crimes such like the United States, Canada and Mexico, etc. Countries with stricter gun restrictions lack the necessity to arm officers, with tazers or pistols, which according to you, have the same use as they are both potentially lethal, as is everything. A baton can be "less lethal" hit people enough times in the right spot and it's lethal. Maybe we should remove batons, etc. I don't want to put politics into this matter, even though it is extremly evident, as it'll just be a free for all. xD ANYWAYS D:

This is what I meant by "talking past each other". You had seemed to me to make a distinction between "less lethal" and "less-than-lethal", which I'm pretty sure are the same thing. Both terms mean things like pepper spray, tasers, and batons. They contrast with "lethal", which includes firearms.
