VOTE FOR OFFICIAL LSPDFR DISCORD

Featured Replies

I have messaged Sam and asked about an official LSPDFR discord. However no response yet. Please comment "YES" in favor of an official discord and "NO" if you do not favor an official discord.

I Vote: YES

Im going to say no. LSPDFR.com is a place to download extra fun mods/plugins to use with LSPDFR and nothing more than that. Sure, people have the occasional conversation in the off-topic forums, but that rarely happens. For the most part, this site sees the most traffic in the Support Section or in the different pages where you download files. I think that making a Discord means either hiring more Staff or adding extra work to the current Staff Team. Creating a Discord would also mean pulling some of the team away from this site and focusing more on the (most likely) chaotic Discord.

As for what the Management Team has said before, they have considered it but haven't really gone down that path.

Hope this opinion provides some insight/other point of view!

In my opinion discord would be better ...it loads faster than this website...navigation is more fluent....and its free so they will no longer have to pay monthly site bills...people can upload their mods/plugins and have them link to media fire....there is ZERO reason to have a website when Discord exists

Please show someone this comment because I believe it offers enough to convince them that its a more viable way of running this community. Thank you!

Doing this would mean finding Staff to Moderate the Discord and having the current Staff moderate the site, or having the current Staff take both the site and the Discord. Which wouldn't be the smartest as the Moderators here have to do file approvals, reports that come in, as well as move the thousands of topics that get put in the wrong section because people can't read.

What is nice is that the mess of Unofficial Discords out there help close the gap for the lack of an Official one.

with discord they can literally do away with the site completely...and as far as people not reading the right sections....they do that on here....comment things that are written down clear as day NOT TO DO...its gonna happen

It all honestly depends on how the Management is feeling. If they went fully to Discord, it would mean that the Staff would have to be constantly active moderating the chat. It would also mean creating a more complex system for file uploads. They would either have to give out roles to developers which would mean the Devs could post whenever they updated but it would mean the files would be released without a file check. OR the developers would submit their finished products to the Staff Team and they would review them before posting them to the appropriate Discord channel. This would create far more hassle than the site already currently offers, and would require activity levels far higher than that needed for actively moderating the site.

I could not think of a worse way to manage mod updates and downloads than a Discord. It is ultimately a short-lived chat and everything gets lost. The search is terrible. It creates a "silo" similar to Facebook and others where it cannot be indexed via search engines, holding all your data hostage. It cannot be crawled, no one can find anything inside it without being part of it (and even then you cannot find anything due to terrible search). It's almost like an antithesis to the idea of the internet or any community.

Would it make sense to supplement an existing community? Perhaps. But keep in mind that the vast majority of users will go there for support, thinking they have this one unique problem no one else has ever had and which is totally a problem with mod X. I understand that people like the fast access, but that is usually at the expense of spam and bugging others, answers the same two questions every five minutes. You are just shifting the burden of research (i.e. a google search for your problem) by posting it in a chat room waiting for someone else to google it for you or answer it. We have tinkered with it for our RDR community and struck a fair balance, I believe. However, our GTA V community is a lot bigger and as already been pointed out would require a ton more moderation work, especially due to how fast paced Discord is. So for the time being, we do not have any immediate plans to create an official public Discord server.
