I would like to remove the sidearms from all police in the game until the next version of LCPDFR is released, but can't find anything in the files that specifies weapons for specific pedestrians, does anyone know how I would do this?

I don't know if that's possible in GTA without a mod doing it. And I got no idea if their are any mods to do that.

The only thing I can find is +cancarryweapons in \common\data\pedpersonality.dat, but I only really want to remove the sidearms.

and it does not make any difference.

There is also firearm_core but every character has that.

Hmm. I got no idea what most of that does, maybe who he targets? (unarmed_gang, counters_player)

Everything after the seccond E is a tickbox so maybe I can remove firearm_core.

Edit 2: Nope both firearm_core and +cancarryweapons removed and they are still armed.

I think this is probably hardcoded. No ped in GTA actually carries any weapons other than mission/scenario peds, instead when an event is triggered (like the player shooting) peds react to it and if they are a cop, they will react by pulling out a pistol which is just spawned on the spot.

So the only likely way of removing the weapons would be a script, I don't think it is worth the potential bugs that might result, I will just wait until the next version where they stick to the ROE.

You must be from the UK if you want unarmed cops, or is it just for fun?

It is because the cops use the "Shoot first, brush doughnut crumbs off lap and get out of car second, check if suspect is armed when they are dead last." rules of engagement in the current version of LCPDFR, but yes I am from the UK but I would prefer armed cops IF they don't shoot always, it does not really matter since in the next version the cops try to arrest rather than shoot the suspect.
