Changing Lightbar Colors

Featured Replies

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to learn how to change Lightbar Colors. I attempted with this pack (linked below) to change the lightbar to All Red. Just thought it would look cool. Well I tried and all I ended up doing was changing the color of the physical lightbar (texture files in OpenIV).... I also broke said lightbar ha ha. It wouldn't flash at all. So I quickly realized that I had no idea what I was doing. Anywho, is there any forum thread or post that can help me out? I tried looking for one but couldn't find one that explained HOW to do it, just that it could be done. Thank you in advance 🙂

PS : Yes I have permission to edit the textures of this pack. Found on the mod page itself "DO NOT rip, dismantle or change the vehicle in any way (except for texture files)." I figure a lightbar color change counts for personal use.

Hey man,

"DO NOT rip, dismantle or change the vehicle in any way (except for texture files)."

Absolutely correct!
However you are right, you can change the textures for the light bar for personal use!

What is it you're trying to do and I can try and assist

No problem, all I wanted to do was swap the Blue lights in the rear of these lightbars, to Red. Thus, making it an all red setup. Just thought it would look cool ha ha.

Here's what I did (miserably) : I figured I could simply copy the red lights in the DDS, and plop them over the blue lights (making sure to delete the blue texture underneath). Buuuuuuuuut it caused the lightbar to no longer flash, so I realized I needed help but figured I was at least somewhat in the right direction.

Yeah, I get you. I know longer have the files for it.

I can fix up the lighting Maybe (no promises). But ALL the lights will be red

That would be lovely, thank you Jed 😉

Okay, so I think I've fixed it for you.

So, drag and drop these into the YTDs:

And in the ELS VCFs, simple copy this and paste it over the bits in the VCF

@Jedahdiah Thanks I'll give it a try! It's the same method I tried, so if yours works and mine doesn't then I'll consider myself unlucky lol.

Here's what one of mine looked like. I must have used too much of something, or placed a color in the wrong location.
