Vehicle Naming (GXT2/HASH)

Featured Replies

I'm messing around with a few pre-made packs and editing them to fit what I want, in doing so I'm trying to rename them in-game so I can find them easier in SNT.

I've read a few tutorials and have generated hashes using OpenIV's hash generator from the <gamename> tags in the vehicles.meta file, however upon adding them to the global.gxt2 file only one out of seven is showing as what I intended and I'm not sure why. The others are simply showing as their original model names as in the vehicles.rpf file. What am I doing wrong here?

<gameName>ULSAPD Stanier</gameName>
<gameName>ULSAPD Slicktop Stanier</gameName>
<gameName>ULSAPD Unmarked Merit</gameName>
<gameName>ULSAPD Stanier Old</gameName>
<gameName>unmarked merit</gameName>
<gameName>lspd merit</gameName>
<gameName>usaf security forces merit</gameName>

This is what I've set the hash codes to be in-game, out of all of them only the "LSPD Merit" one works.

0xDF4E7868 = ULSAPD Stanier
0x847F1105 = ULSAPD Stanier Slicktop
0xD07B133E = ULSAPD Merit Unmarked
0xBF76DFCB = LSIAPD Stanier
0x87CCB4EB = Unmarked Merit
0x39CE5E90 = LSPD Merit
0xA26B2551 = USAF Merit

I'm assuming this is because it's first in the global.gxt2 file, how do I make the game recognize I have more than one car though? I've added them but obviously my formatting is wrong somewhere.

This is what it's in my global.gxt2 file, interesting to note the Merit is second last here but shows as first when imported into OpenIV (I'm guessing because it has the lowest hash code?).

Version 2 30
{
   0xDF4E7868 = ULSAPD Stanier
   0x847F1105 = ULSAPD Stanier Slicktop
   0xD07B133E = ULSAPD Merit Unmarked
   0xBF76DFCB = LSIAPD Stanier
   0x87CCB4EB = Unmarked Merit
   0x39CE5E90 = LSPD Merit
   0xA26B2551 = USAF Merit
}

Any help appreciated, thanks.

gameName tag entries should not be done like that (use something like the model file name, and there is a character limit), and you don't need to use hashed names, just plain text.

Default example:

<gameName>police</gameName>

police = Police Cruiser

Ah a character limit, that probably explains why the only one that worked was "LSPD Merit". I've struggled to find information about this, I don't have to use the hash? I want the vehicle names to be unique when using SNT to spawn them, otherwise it ends up as "Emergency, Police Cruiser" x7 and I have no idea what's what.

You can keep all the custom name strings, just change the gamename strings in the meta entry and the gxt2 files to something like just the model names for each vehicle.

Oh awesome! I didn't realize I could just use plain text, works perfectly now, thanks a lot! 😄

I'm trying to do essentially the same thing, I've got it working for about 1/2 my addon cars in a few dlc's but some of the cars are stubborn and I don't understand why. The model name and <gamename> strings are all under 10 characters. I've tried using plain text and I even figured out the correct hash#'s for everything but it still just won't work. I've even tried changing the global file in a few different places. Some dlc's have 1/2 the cars working and 1/2 won't, some dlc's just don't change the names at all. I'm completely at a loss for what to do.
