This is a replacement for StopThePed and Ultimate Backup. They cannot be used with this mod.
A lot of plugins require STP/UB and cause crashes without them. They will need to update.
Compulite does not work with this. Reports+ or External Police Computer are alternatives.

After two years of development, it's here. Policing Redefined is a LSPDFR plugin similar to popular plugins such as Stop The Ped, Ultimate Backup by Bejoijo, LSPDFR+, or Arrest-Manager by Albo1125. It aims to provide an even more feature-rich and immersive experience to your LSPDFR Patrol, advancing ped and traffic stops as well as adding additional vehicle stops and on-foot traffic stops.
And that is just a small portion of what PR (Policing Redefined) has to offer!

 

Installation:

  1. Extract the contents of the downloaded Policing Redefined v[VERSION].zip archive.
  2. Drag-and-drop the contents of the "GTAV MAIN DIRECTORY" folder into your GTA 5 root directory.
  3. Read the "Get Started" guide on our site

 

After installing your Settings/ folder will be empty, which is normal!
Go on duty at least once: PR will generate them then.

Features:

Policing Redefined has a ton of features which all cannot be listed here. However here is a rundown of the biggest:

  • Ped Interaction: Custom questioning menu, field sobriety tests, Front/Back cuffing, citations, and more.
  • Inventory Management: Store and bag evidence, test substances, replenish ammo, and more.
  • Backup: Call police, fire, and EMS with a full RTS style management menu to assign tasks to each unit.

 

Disclaimer, Please Read.

First, this will be completely incompatible with Stop The Ped, Ultimate Backup, and Compulite, it is recommended you remove them for the smoothest experience.

This is a BETA. This means that you may encounter bugs, crashes, weird behaviors, etc.

The mod itself works as intended. Any major breakages (e.g. the mod crashing on load), are likely due to user error.

PR has been rigorously tested for the past year by various testers and content creators, with no major issues that have yet to be patched.

  • Added to BackupSettings.ini:
    • ExternalDispatchTowTruck: Set response code when requesting tow-truck outside of dispatch menu (plugins like GP, general/misc menu)
    • ExternalDispatchPrisonerTransport: Set response code when requesting prisoner transport for arrested ped

 

Fixes

  • Custom .ini-parser for special characters support
  • K9 fight abort shouldn't kill ped anymore
  • Felony stop doesn't error upon clearing vehicle anymore
  • Felony stop now aborts when a pursuit starts
  • Putting suspect in vehicle (player & prisoner transport) now only uses passenger doors
    • PR will display it when prisoner transport notices that no door to enter could be found.
      If that's the case for you (and the vehicle isn't full of passengers) then it is a vehicle model issue. Use a different one!

  • Better animation playing (hopefully less random canceling)
  • Normal dismiss now skips walking tasks of backup peds

To update, you only need to replace your DLL and PDB files.
To utilize some search items fixes, you can replace the appropriate XML files too — though it's not required and NOT recommended if you already have custom ones.

Mods great, very excited for its ongoing development and future releases. One unusual issue I have recently noticed, and it is possible something I did when playing with the customizable settings, and it's not a bug (that I can tell), however when I call for a firetruck, only one firefighter is in it. I swear when I first added the mod it was 4, now its one. Not sure if off hand anyone can explicitly direct me to that custom setting (I have looked through them all). But would like to have my 4 man fire crew back.

It is possible that its caused by some incompatible plugin (plugins that depend on STP/UB). You can try launching the game with no STP/UB and with PR, but disable loading of FR on start-up. Only load FR once you are in story mode to see the error in the console. You can also join our discord and provide a .log.

Try Launch LSPDFR again. Maybe it work fine again.(Same issue, but at the second time launching LSPDFR everything works fine) 

 

 

If you have Compulite, Remove it.

You need to bump up the "pax" attribute of fire units in your XMLs and set the "pax_chance" attribute to "100". PR doesnt enforce it (unlike for EMS, coroner...) because some people requested to have less than four firefighters. More info on backup configs can be found here:

I’ve noticed that backup units always drive exactly to the spot where they were called and then just stay there. This often causes them to crash into other vehicles. It would be great if their behavior could be adjusted a bit for example, stopping nearby instead of right on the marker.

I believe you're right! I didn't quite solve the problem as i did not find the cause but  I was able to get it worked by just keeping UB installed and changing the keybindings so that there is no conflict and that is working for now until i have the energy to diag further lol. The issue definitely seems to lie within some other plugin that evidently relies on UB.

 

Sidenote: is there a way for me to dismiss backup that has arrived on scene once they are already there? I know with UB you could look directly at them and hold U and they would leave. Trying to get all the backup units from a pursuit to leave the scene while i process it.

feature idea: knocking on car windows to get people's attention. just an animation and sound is all i need, but itd be cool if there was head tracking etc

Will AI backup be improved in the next update? I noticed that on narrow or crowded streets, or when I call for panic/group backup, AI backup will ALWAYS aggressively crash into things. (Specifically a combination of: running over dead peds laying on the ground, going over the sidewalk, hitting a building, hitting other vehicles, hitting each other). 

Would it be possible to make incoming units slow down as they approach and park behind other units that came before them? Rather than all units trying to rush to the center of the scene and crashing into things.

Another thing is the pursuit backup. They always spawn directly in front of the suspect's car like a roadblock and end up being left behind because they are spawned facing the opposite direction and need to do a U-turn. 

Otherwise, everything been working flawless.

In general the problem are narrow streets and locations with high population: GTA driving AI can be unfortunately incredibly stupid.

 

Also do you use any mods that affect traffic AI?

Yes, I'm using the latest version. For AI driving mods I have MTFO and Rich's Enhancements. Not sure if those may be the primary causes rather than PR.

You can try to temporarily disable them and check if that improved it.

Is your MTFO the latest version? Same issue I had. I reverted to his earlier version and it seems to have helped with AI backup. I am still testing to make sure that was in fact the issue.

I did some more gameplay and the backup responds normally (as good as AI could get) when at traffic stops. I did discover they have a tendency to drive and park sporadically if at a callout or parked on the side of road when talking to a pedestrian. Basically a traffic stop with a tagged vehicle pulled over, operates smoothly, whilst any other scenario requiring backup leads to total randomness. I removed RPE with no definitive improvement to gameplay. It was also determined either version of MTFO had the same effect on gameplay. I could always try to get some video recordings to show behavior during a traffic stop as well as on a callout, if you feel it necessary.

On traffic stops they try to park behind you. On normal responses they will attempt to look for a position at the side of the road which may and may not always work very well. Its dependent on a bunch of factors (approach, population, location...).

But did removing/downgrading MTFO help with it generally?

Makes sense. Sometimes a bit inconvenient when they park on larger 4 lane roads on the opposite side of you 😅. As for downgrading MTFO, it did not make a big difference. Traffic stop behavior was almost identical with both versions. The callout behavior also works as you explained how you intended it to.

I did make a suggestion on this on the discord page so won't get in depth about that here. But other than that, nothing with RPE and MTFO shows signs of being incompatible with PR. I'm assuming OP was referring to backup for callouts and not so much about traffic stops.

Hello. I posted about an LSPDFR crash using PR on your Discord server. But it wasn't you who replied to me. I just wanted to know if you agree with what I was told ? Someone who obviously enjoys giving absurd answers replied in your place. Another person closed the conversation. But I find it a shame that it wasn't you, the developer of this plugin, who closed the conversation, at least confirming what was said.
