Project Vanilla Blue [Non-ELS] 1.0.1

(0 reviews)

5 Screenshots

Project Vanilla Blue is my first (and likely last) ever GTA mod upload. I never thought i'd be contributing to LSPDFR or GTA!

This mod is a very simple one - it contains just a modified carcols.ymt and a series of textures for the fleet, converting the red/blue lights in to all blue without the use of ELS. This is useful for those on laptops or low spec machines who don't want to run another mod which takes just 1/2 FPS to achieve a minor cosmetic change to the vanilla fleet. It's also useful if you don't want to have to mess around with finding custom vehicles which may have higher resolution than you want or not handle properly.

Installation is relatively simple, but it does have several steps.

1. Install OPENIV and open it

2. Install https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/fast-add-on-cars-installer by DJ-DZ using the replace mod OR skip this step if you have a regular place to upload replacement vehicles

3. Open OPENIV and navigate to your installation folder (either the replace folder using DJ-DZ's tool or your default regular replacement folder)

4. BACK UP ANY FILES THAT WILL BE OVER WRITTEN - COMPARE THE LIST

5. Select "Edit Mode" in the top of the window

6. Drag all ytf/ytd files to the folder

7. Go to mods/update/update.rpf/x64/data

8. Select the "carcols.ymt" located in x64/data

9. BACK UP THIS FILE

10. Copy the modified carcols.ymt

To uninstall, simply delete the vehicles from the location made using DJ-DZs tool or your default save location and then overwrite the carcols.ymt file with the one you backed up (step 9 said back that up!)

Each step is important. The textures make the police light bars and grilles blue, while carcols.ymt makes the light those bars and grills cast blue. Without one, either your lights will look red but cast blue lights, or your lights will look blue but cast red lights.

This is offered as-is. I may get around to doing the LSFD and various ambulances however this project was never intended for release and I'm not a modder!

The following vehicles are completed

LSPD

Police Cruiser

Police Interceptor

Police Buffalo

Police Transporter

Unmarked Cruiser (not pictured)

FIB/NOoSE

Buffalo

Granger

Riot

BCSD

Cruiser

SUV

SAHP

Police Bike

What's New in Version 1.0.1

Released

Not even a real update - the full images and the ambulances and LSFD files were in the original upload in error.

This upload contains only the modified texture files and the carcols.ymt.

I am aware that since the latest update carcols.ymt won't be overwitten and I'm looking in to what needs to happen in order to fix it.

I have identified where exactly things were going wrong and updated the instructions - the carcols.ymt now goes in the mods folder.
