San Andreas Tree Project 1.5.0

Info:

Here's a bit of a change up from my normal work. This is something I had for personal use. I always found the tree cover, especially in Paleto Forest, quite minimal, so this adds over 5000+ trees to the map.

There are also some other props used on top of that, including some fun Easter eggs.  Paleto Bay has been mildly redone too, adding additional signs, trees and traffic lights that Rockstar missed out on.

Here's the list of all the areas that have been redone:

  • Paleto Forest
  • Chiliad State Wilderness
  • Raton Canyon
  • Cassidy Creek
  • The GOH north of Hookies,
  • Paleto Bay
  • West Grapeseed
  • Braddock Pass
  • Cape Catfish
  • Grapeseed Farms
  • Grapeseed Town

There's quite a few Easter eggs in total, I bet you can't find them all 😉

Don't worry, I'll be returning to vehicles soon. This was just because a lot of people on Discord asked about it, and this is easier to share it than clogging up my MediaFire which is for *cough* very important projects.

As far as I'm aware, this doesn't cause massive texture loss or FPS loss on my PC, which is is Mid-Range. If you're having issues with this mod, then it's not up to me to fix it. I'd suggest searching other, better optimised forest mods.

ALSO, as far as I'm aware, there are no issues with scenario paths, such as planes (like the crop duster in Grapeseed) or any of the story missions.

For Autumn (Fall for you yanks) Trees, you'll need this mod:

I provide how to install for NVR and an oak tree texture fix in my Readme with this file.

What's New in Version 1.5.0

Released

  • Additional tree coverage
  • Joshua Road and Route 13 Intersection spruced up
  • Fixed route 15 sign (texture was the same as Route 13), this will be needed for upcoming updates
  • More eastereggs
  • Grapeseed town and farms now included
  • Removed V1.0.0, and it's no longer supported

If FiveM has a custom maps ymaps folder, it should work

You'll get a small drop, as with any map mod that adds more stuff. But it's really not noticable on medium and up PCs

Well no actually, because its a very specific laptop.

I'd suggest taking your laptop specs and running them against the GTA 5 recommended specs. Then kinda guess how much strain mods can put on it. So mine is a higher end medium spec PC, and when I add LSPDFR, scripts to go with it, I probably loose a few frames.

Whereas depending on how the map mods are made, some can maybe loose a frame or two. But poorly made maps or excessive 4k vehicles can have a massive drop.

I'd suggest trying it out and finding a balance. Just experiment and try it out. Just remember the more mods you have (scripts, LSPDFR, vehicles, map mods) nearly always will reduce your FPS, even if you specs are quite high.

I know you said in 2020 you had this on your list to remake it, but I cannot help but wonder... still on the list? 11/10 map, the imperfections can easily be overlooked by the beauty.

Absolutely, it's sitting in my WIPs.
It's part of a larger project so, will be released with that.

Just finding time at the moment is hard

This is a great forest mod, but I do have a few criticisms.

In the SP pre-heist mission where the guys go to scout the Paleto Bank, you have to race through that tunnel you blocked off. Also, the trees seem too dense around the GOH and Grapeseed area (since it is a farming/more-grassy area), but lacking on the dirt road directly south of Chilliad/north of the Alamo Sea and somewhat on the east area of Mt. Gordo. The tall light post and trees around McKenzie Airfield are a bit of an obstruction for planes (and as a result unrealistic as well). There's also a stunt jump blocked by trees in Raton Canyon. Maybe somewhat thin out the Paleto Forest/Sawmill area as well because the shadows needed to be rendered add up quick. Overall I think resulting changes would reduce the amount of trees by about 20-30%.

I really like the decorations on the roads, and overall it gives an awesome new atmosphere; thanks.

Or instead replace most of the trees Paleto Forest trees you added with big Redwoods? (in moderation) Overall I think resulting changes would reduce the amount of trees by about 20-30%.

I really like the decorations on the roads, works perfectly with GTA V Remastered 2.0, and overall it gives an awesome new atmosphere; thanks.

Many thanks for the feedback. I'm currently working on a new version of this, and I shall definitely add this feedback to the new project.

The tunnel is interesting, before I didn't know the tunnel was functional, but now I know it directly impacts the game, I shall make changes.

Many thanks!

With a 2.0 or a revamp of sorts in your works would the possibility of seeing a fivem compatible version of this forest? seeing as the only ones on the market are the ridiculously large redwood style trees or the same oak trees in a single line on both sides of a road.
Might I recommend if replacing the blocked tunnel a boat ramp or two around your forest.

I've had reports for a while about this. Currently working on a new project that involves this.

I'm not too sure of a fix for this atm

FYI: This mod is under construction by the developer. They are working to ensure this mod no longer crashes GTA and remains a constant use with every update.
