1998 SSPD Ford Crown Victoria [Non-ELS] 1.0.0

(1 review)

5 Screenshots

Well Howdy Folks! I bring yall a 1998 SSPD Crown Vic.

98 Vics are underrated. Also the skin and build of the car are not based on anything special. Just my imagination

Feel free to make skins and upload them, just credit me. Also feel free to convert the car to R/R, B/B, A/P. Just dont reupload and Claim as your own!

Also there is only One small bug, the Blue Light on the end of the Lightbar have a little piece of the Alley Lights clipping with them. It was too late to realize I made that mistake.

Just change the .ytd and .ytf. Is this for Singleplayer or FiveM?

Yea, I'm not exactly sure on how to do it for Singleplayer. My best answer to you is find someone who knows how to or use YouTube

Nice car, but sadly filesize is too high!

Should be under 20 MB altogether to prevent texture loss...

The .ytd is around 14MB, the .ytf is around 10MB.

Their activity is the worse. Faceless claims, toxicity, begging, criticism based on opinions, and other garbage. So I think that is just who they are. Complain about everything without knowing how much money and effort goes into things.

I said nice car, so I don´t understand why you write this. It´s no complain from me I just pointed out, that the filesize shouldn´t be this high to prevent issues. It might work if you only use this but with many other mods the game would only last a couple of minutes until complete texture removal.

The filesize shows how much effort goes into this because of the details this car has and I really appreciate the work and effort people put into the mods and release them public. I know about this and if you researched correct you might have seen, that I don´t write garbage. I sometimes just point out the bugs or issues so people can improve or learn about things they don´t know about or just miss. I´m no idiot so dont write like this, please.

20Mb. Is pretty unreasonable. GTAV requires each vehicle to have a .yft and a _hi.yft for the vehicle files and a .ytd for the texture dictionary. Depending on the base, one vehicle file size can get close to that 20Mb. just on its own. Sure, some compression can be used to reduce the number of materials by reusing some or deleting unused ones, However, most vehicles can't get much smaller without reducing the poly count (which is hard and painful) and ruins the visual fidelity of the model. Most vehicles, bases, and items used are optimized the best they can be without ruining the model. You also, can't really compress a .ytd either. DDS images are already pretty small leaving no room for any additional optimization. You can reuse textures, but in the end, you need to have some textures and they need to retain some quality. I have over five-hundred vehicle mods installed in my game and I have no issues. Vehicles will only be rendered when on-screen or loading in. Most vehicles in my game with all their files combined are around 50Mb. each. I am not saying 20Mb. isn't possible, but it would require a lot of extra work, additional programs (Which can cost thousands of dollars), and the loss of overall visual accuracy that someone worked so hard on. In the end, not every mod needs to be painstakingly optimized so people with low-end machines can use them.

.ytd is something I worry about. I get worried when it starts getting around 10MB as I like it under that. But if they go over, they go over. If I wanted to reduce the size of the textures to under 10MB, it would be a pixelated mess. In addition, my vehicles are optimized for FiveM, so they run best when used in 5-M. I dont plan on anything being used in SP as said in the Readme.txt

I agree to that.

But it´s not always a matter of the pc hardware. The texture loss is a common problem even on high-end machines. It depends on a lot of different factors.

Police vehicles in callouts e.g.

I think this discussion does not belong here. I just wanted to point that out and didn´t want to piss off someone.

And don´t get me wrong, I really like this model and also think it´s the best ´98 CV around.

It´s ok, I didn´t want to make the model bad, it´s the best ´98 CV around.  It was just something I wanted to tell...

@darkblue @bevarnow @Sniper67 sorry to jump in guys but I believe I should clarify a few things since you are discussing some points of my guide.

Just because something isn't optimal doesn't mean it should be changed. If model creators already put so much effort and even money into delivering something for free for you, the least you can do is optimize it on your end.

Thats why I made that guide. So that the users have power over their textures load. But many still want high res textures. So modders will deliver. The guide WAS NOT intended for the model creators themselves. If they can develop a lightweight model, great. But i dont think its even something that should be worthy to point out in comments.

Also the 20MB isnt a deal breaker. As long you dont have too many cars with +20MB, you should be fine with having a super good looking model out of your entire fleet.
