Realistic Speed Radar 1.2.6107.41881

   (28 reviews)

2 Screenshots

Realistic vehicle based radar system. Vehicle direction segmentation, antenna selection, fastest mode, etc. This is a simulation of the Kustom Signals Golden Eagle II radar system which is very popular among law enforcement in the United States.

Features:

  • Realistic graphical interface
  • Realistic modes
    • 6 modes
    • 4 moving and 2 stationary modes just like it's real life counterpart.
    • Fastest / Closest(strongest) modes
  • Realistic capture area
    • Cone shaped capture area in front and behind your vehicle
  • Lock system realistically locks the mode, range, patrol speed and target speeds

359d2aeb26.jpg

How to use:

Spoiler
  1. Watch this: https://youtu.be/fmH6F7fNN2o  (same as above)
  2. Follow install directions
  3. Start GTA (normally, rage or via multiFive/Reborn)
  4. Get in a vehicle
  5. Press J
  6. Press K to cycle modes (2 stationary modes, 4 moving modes)
  7. Press L to lock a target
  8. Press ALT+K to toggle fastest mode

Installation:

Spoiler
  1. Install ScripthookV by Alexander Blade (download)
  2. Install ScripthookVdotNet (download)
  3. Download this mod
  4. Copy the "SpeedRadar.dll" over into the scripts folder you created in step 2
  5. Start GTA (normally, through Rage, or through multiFive/Reborn)
  6. Get in a vehicle and press J - the radar interface should pop up

  7. Now you can alt+tab to change keys as explained below
  8. Press insert to reload the scripts once you have updated the ini file!

Key bindings / METRIC:

  • J - Power
  • K - Mode (main modes)
  • AlT+K - Fastest / Strongest(closest) toggle
  • L - Lock toggle

UPDATING KEYS & changing to metric (KPH):

Spoiler

There will be an INI file located in the same directory as the DLL file. If there is not one, please run the script at least once and it will be automatically generated.

Update keys as you see fit, you should be able to use keys such as F1 or F5 if you wish (just enter that in place of J, for example).

Set MPH=FALSE in order to get KPH speed readouts!

Modes explanation:

Spoiler

Moving modes:

  1. Front/same direction
  2. Front/opposite direction
  3. Rear/same direction
  4. Rear opposite direction

Stationary modes:

  1. Front, same and opposite direction
  2. Rear, same and opposite direction

In addition to these modes, there is a 'fastest mode' switch.

  • In normal mode (IRL), the radar works by returning the strongest signal returned to the antenna - this can quite often be the largest vehicle on the roadway, or the closest vehicle. Imagine that it's a video camera - it'll return the vehicle that takes the most screen space... basically... (closer vehicles = more screen area)
  • In fastest mode (IRL), the radar works by returning the fastest signal returned back to the antenna, irregardless of other signals. This allows law enforcement to capture the speed of a motorcycle passing a semi - whereas in normal mode the speed of the semi would be returned.

  • Normal mode in the script will return the closest vehicle in the capture area
  • Fastest mode in the script will return the fastest vehicle in the capture area

Known Issues / Bugs:

Most issues are caused due to improper installation. MAKE SURE YOU'VE INSTALLED PROPERLY!

Spoiler

Known issues

  • Some screen resolutions will show the mode selector strange. It's usable, just unsightly.
  • Sometimes in certain areas of the map, you can't get a speed reading. Partially addressed in 1.1
  • When moving at a high rate of speed (70mph+) you will often return your own speed. addressed in 1.1
  • Some occasional random crashing with no log output addressed in 1.1

What's New in Version 1.2.6107.41881

Released

  • Attempted fix for INI file. INI file will now ALWAYS be located with the dll file, despite system configuration.

any idea how to unbind the K and L keys from doing turn signals on the car? Any time I change the mode or lock a target my signals come on. Otherwise after a very short amount of time using this script I really like it and will be glad to do a review! thank you for this mod!

I'm not sure about unbinding those keys from the signals script; however, you can change the keybindings for this using the INI file.  The INI file (provided you have run the script atleast once) will be located either in the same folder as the DLL, or in the same folder as your gtaV.exe file.

Thanks Matt, through some more research, I found that it was actually the simple trainer. I diasbled keybindings and it works great now.

Just FYI mate, my game crashed ( screen just froze ) on the 4 times I have played with this installed. It happens mostly when on the freeways, great mod but there may be some glitches as this has never happened before.

Awesome mod! Hopefully it does not crash for me. Can you possibly add a feature (that other users with no patience for noise can turn off in .ini) where the radar makes a noise like this related to the relative cars coming to or going away from the car?

Great mod -  However, using it as Speed Radar and needing to have my lights only on sometimes going down the highway to pull someone over makes it a bit odd as the script will go off and on as I am pressing J,  maybe I might have to rebind my siren type keys?   Because this script does not come with an ini file.  Only a .dll file which of course the PC flags it, but we all know its safe.  Is there a way you can change the keybindings of this script without an ini file?  Doesn't mention this in the description.

Sorry for my ignorance. You wrote " Sorry about the INI file sometimes being in the wrong location. I couldn't get it to load up in the same directory for some reason."   Am I doing something wrong here?  It sounds like the ini file should come with this script.  Or is he referring to the scripthookvnet?

EDIT:   I FOUND IT.... sorry I did not read correctly.  It was sitting all by its loansome in the main directory.  IT was odd because I did not install it there.  Thanks for this mod

The mod should create its own ini file after you run the game with the mod installed for the first time, then quit the game and check for the ini file in the described locations. For me it created the ini file in the GTAV main directory.

@rushlink  I have run into a small problem, not sure if it is the modded police car i use but the radar seems to sometimes pick up the speed of my car when driving. It only seems to happen at 35+ mph, as if the mod slightly lags behind the car due to speed and is picking up the front of the car. Does the mod have a minimum radar distance and it is picking up my front bumper?

Other than that i love the mod!

Hey there, can you pm me? I'd love to see if I can get this addressed this weekend. Can you provide me a copy of your scripthook v dot net log file too?

Yeah, I had considered putting sounds into the game.  The issue is that id have to generate the noise, as the pitch changes.  I'll look into it, as this was something that I wanted too but found difficult so I left it out

Yeah, that's strange. I think I know exactly what is happening, I just don't know why that would be occurring. It could perhaps be a performance issue. Basically, this shoots a ray from your vehicle (in many directions). As soon as it hits a car, it logs the car and shoots another Ray out (away from you), starting at that cars location.

now, the first Ray ignores you and the subsequent rays ignore the vehicle it hit.

i could see how on a lower performance system, if you hit a car that was really close to you (say going the opposite direction), it could shoot another Ray and hit you too. I'll see if I can up the minimum distance a bit and perhaps you can give it a shot later.

@rushlink since you seem to know how to draw inside scripthookvdotnet would you mind helping me out on building my handheld radar script?

I got permission from the original author of the actual radargun model from gta iv to use it and have converted it to gta v now just need help on making the script now.

this would be the model I got permission from ridgerunner to use & convert it in a radargun script for gta v:

The only issue I am having currently is that I have the .dll file in my plugins/LSPDFR folder, when I go into game, it seems like the script wants to load but then I get a popup from the Traffic Policer script saying that it is advised that I remove the SpeedRader.dll because of possible key conflictions.

Now I would love to keep both scripts if possible but maybe Im just missing something?

Idk about traffic police but they should be capable of running at the same time.  After the script loads you can find the ini and change the Keys if you want.

That's just it, I would change the keys in the ini if the ini was actually created. Like I said, the script loads but is not active and when I check both my main GTA v directory and my plugins folder, no ini can be found.

Ok the best solution is to temporarily remove traffic police then start, change keys and put traffic police back in and see if it works

Tried that and still no luck. Unfortunately it seems like this script just wont load at all.

After removing Traffic Policer, there's not even a trace of it even trying to load (as if the script isn't even in the folder)

That's strange. After having seen that traffic policer can see the dll, I would assume that the script is visible. One thing I can suggest would be to remove all of your scripts (other than scripthookV and scripthookV.net, and speedRadar.dll) then see if it runs. You should then add the scripts back in 1 by 1 until it stops working. Then there is the issue.

You can also check your scripthookv.net log file which will tell you if the mod is loading up or not.

Uh, that's why it isn't working. It isn't a ragepluginhook script/plugin. Put it in \Grand Theft Auto V\scripts

I love the script I was wondering though when you lock on speed if you could have a blip set up for the vehicle that you lock on to that would kind of be helpful on patrol, it's just a suggestion

I wanted to keep this as realistic as possible. I don't have any plans to add a blip or something similar.

Not sure if this is what you need but I've attached a file that says mini crash report. This happend again this morning. Not certain I have the right Scripthook.net files either as I cannot get them from GTA5 mod website as it states that the site cannot be reached. It's been like this since yesterday not sure what is going on. If anyone out there has a link to the latest Scripthook.net file I'd appreciate it.
