The Federal Signal e-Q2B is a state-of-the-art 200-watt electronic siren engineered to replicate the iconic sound of the classic Q2B® electro-mechanical coaster siren. The traditional mechanical Q-siren is famous for its powerful, penetrating sound, but its immense power consumption limits its use on smaller emergency vehicles. To bridge this gap, the e-Q2B utilizes advanced Digital Signal Processor (DSP) technology combined with a robust Class D audio amplifier. Rather than playing a simple digital recording, it dynamically reproduces the authentic harmonics, distinctive "Q" wail, and manual braking feel of the original mechanical siren.

Operating at a fraction of the power—drawing only about 20 to 30 amps compared to the massive current draw of a mechanical model—the e-Q2B allows a wider range of emergency vehicles to carry the commanding "Q" sound. This includes light fleets, command vehicles, and ambulances. However, its most prominent application remains on American fire apparatus, where the trademarked "Q" sound is deeply rooted in tradition and considered a vital tool for clearing heavy traffic at intersections.

Beyond the traditional wail, the modular e-Q2B system integrates modern electronic siren functionalities. It features a digital control head with backlit membrane switches, providing functions such as yelp, priority tones, an electric air horn, a noise-canceling microphone for public address (PA), and radio rebroadcast capabilities. It is also compatible with the Rumbler® intersection clearing system, making it a highly reliable and versatile warning system for modern EMS and fire services.
