  GTA IV DowngraderJe7x0Rx.png

This tool allows users to easily revert their Grand Theft Auto IV installation (versions 1.2.0.30 and up) from Steam or Rockstar Games Launcher to earlier versions such as 1.0.8.0, 1.0.7.0, or 1.0.4.0.

🤝 Requirements

  • .NET Framework 4.8 - Should be installed on every Windows 11/10 machine.
  • Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8 or 7 - Tested on Windows 11, 10 and 7.
  • Internet Connection - Only if you dont plan on using the offline mode
  • Be in a country which isn't that crappy - Find out why in the "🗒️ Notes" section.

Spoiler

THIS IS THE OLD VERSION OF THE IV DOWNGRADER! ONLY USE IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE LATEST ONE!

⁉️ How to use

  1. Download the Downgrader.
  2. Extract the downloaded zip somewhere on your PC but NOT in your GTA IV folder!
  3. Run the IVDowngrader.exe file (Preferably as an administrator).
  4. 🔎 Now carefully follow all the steps. That's it!

🗒️ Some notes

  • ⚠️ The downgrader downloads stuff, such as mods and data, from GitHub and Dropbox. Some countries such as Cuba, Iran, North Korea or Syria block these services. So if that's the case for you, you will need to perform a manual downgrade instead.
  • The downgrader will NOT delete any of your save files.
  • You can savely press "Next" on the "Analysing your GTA IV directory" step if a warning occured. Make sure to read what the warning says tho.
  • If an error occurs while the downgrader is trying to download the required downgrading files, you can download them manually here. You can then drag the files you downloaded into the "Data -> Temp" folder of the Downgrader and you can try to redowngrade.

🌐 How to use the downgrader's offline mode (⚠️ Only for Version 2.0 and above of the Downgrader ⚠️)

  1. Download the downgrading files you need from here. For example: If you want to downgrade to 1080, and want to use the Legacy Radio Downgrader, you download these 2 files.
  2. Place the downloaded files inside the Data -> Temp (If Temp folder doesn't exists, you can just create it) folder of the GTA IV Downgrader. Do not extract the files! Just copy & paste them in there.
  3. Run the downgrader using the "LaunchInOfflineMode.exe".
  4. The downgrader will now run in offline mode and does not download any file drom the internet. It will only use the files you've put inside the Data > Temp folder.

Updated to version 2.2

What's New in Version 2.2

Released

Changelog

  1. Added “-simple” command line argument which skips some steps making the downgrading process a bit faster. Not recommended for first-time downgraders.
  2. Added “-skipMD5HashStep” which skips not only the “MD5FilesChecker” Step, but also the “MoveGameFiles” (Moving GTA IV to another location) Step. Not recommended for first-time downgraders.
  3. Added a warning for when the user is living in a country or region where services like Dropbox and GitHub are potentially blocked (e.g.: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria).
  4. Added filter textbox in the “SelectComponents” (Select mods that should be installed) step.
  5. Added ability for mods to perform a post-install action (Like automatically adjusting settings of an ini file) after they were installed.
  6. Added ability to skip a download in the downgrade step if it might be stuck (Can lead to unforeseen issues).
  7. Changed how the downgrader clears the read-only attribute of any files/folders within the GTA IV directory which is supposed to be downgraded.
  8. Cleaned up source code.
  9. Fixed a potential crash in the “MD5FilesChecker” step.
  10. Fixed “Queue empty” crash when trying to let the downgrader downgrade your save files using GTASnP.com.
  11. Fixed the layout and behavior of the “MoveGameFiles” step and added some more logging.
  12. The “MD5FilesChecker” step now ignores the “876bd1d9393712ac.bin”, “PlayGTAIV.exe”, “gta4Browser.exe”, “title.rgl”, “DFA.dll” and “steam_api.dll” files within your GTA IV directory while creating the Hash.
  13. The total mod size of the selected mods will now be shown in the “SelectComponents” step.
  14. In the “SelectDwngrdVersion” (Select version you want to downgrade to) step, game version “1.0.8.0” is now selected by default.
  15. More stuff will be logged now for easier troubleshooting, such as the current path of the downgrader/game, the current OS or if the app was started with admin privileges.
  16. Updated the following steps with either new additions, fixes or changes: “Welcome”, “SelectIVExe”, “MD5FilesChecker”, “MoveGameFiles”, “SelectDwngrdVersion”, “SelectRadioDwngrd”, “SelectVladivostokType”, “SelectComponents”, “SavefileDowngrade”, “Confirm”, “Finish”
  17. Updated the automatic “mod check” in the “SelectComponents” which checks if your selected mods miss any required dependencies or have incompabilities.
  18. Removed the “-forceUseAltDownloadLinks” command line argument.
