Slicktop Caprice's
Ugh, can we stay away from HG2 products for this? They're such a low quality brand. I normally get tired of the whole full-length interior lightbar look, since it's been beaten to hell on almost every unmarked/slicktop car that gets released. However, I think a full bar in front, a full bar in the rear (full red/blue, no amber. not every car needs a TA), HAW's/wig wags, side insert lights, and a pair of grille lights could really do the trick on this. I feel like something like that would be a happy medium. Not too much, not too minimal, just kinda in between, perfect for fitting in with most departments. EDIT: Something like the video posted below my posted is what I'm getting at.

2014 Chevy Impala Police!
Yeah, I don't believe that's an actual PPV. GM wouldn't leave so many chromey bits on a police package car. Or put alloy wheels on em for that matter. Interesting though, I wonder if it's a donor car or something. Doesn't Pittsburgh PD use Whelen products? That looks like a Code3 lightbar. And in regards to the Intrepid, I believe there actually was a police package made. They didn't sell too well, but they were out there...

[REQ] A Simple CHP Edit
Hey all, This is directed to anyone who has made an accurate CHP CVPI. CHP units are some of my favorite cars of all time, and I use them often in IV. However, I'd like to switch it up a little bit for the sake of personal interest, perhaps to use as my own interpretation of what I think Liberty State Police would be like. To cut right to the chase, I was wondering if any authors of accurate CHP models would be willing to simply send me a version of the standard, Liberty-equipped CVPI with the steelies swapped out for full hubcap wheels. That's all, nothing fancy, I just think they would look rather classy with the caps. I'd prefer this on a CHP CVPI based on Bxbugs' model rather than the DSF model, but I'll take what I can get. I'd be more than satisfied with just that, but if I could also get the same wheel swap done on slicktop and Vision-equipped models as well, perhaps with Go-Rhinos in place of the standard CHP rambars, I'd be eternally grateful. But anyway, I'd really appreciate someone even just reading my request. I'd build these models on my own, but I figured I'd ask since there's already a few great CHP CVPI's already out. Anyway, thanks for your time. - Blaze

NY NJ Port Authority Police 1987 Chevrolet Caprice
I love your classic NY stuff man, really takes me back. The plates I believe are to identify units which are allowed on airport tarmac. I could be completely wrong about this, but the only PAPD units I've seen with those plates are the ones assigned to airports.

Yes, this is the midway-through-2014 refresh they had been planning for a while. You can see more pictures in the 2014 Michigan State Police test results.

New 2014 Ford Explorer Police Interceptors Design
Eck... Worse in my opinion. I know there were a lot of complaints about the grille because it didn't really leave room for lights to be mounted, but this is really isn't much better. Also the "INTERCEPTOR" badging is just plain stupid. Why put that across the hood like that? It just wastes valuable real estate for other decals. Where are they gonna write "POLICE" or "SHERIFF" etc. now? It's bad enough there's barely any space for graphics on the back, now you're gonna fill up the front too? My local department just got a big order of PI Utilities, and they took off the plates in the back just so they could fit the word "POLICE".

CVPI Traffic *Update*
May I offer some advice, my fellow New Yorker? Forgive me if you had already planned on doing this... Those black strips around the front and rear bumpers? The quality of your model could improve quite a bit if you remap/remove them. PM me if you don't know how.

Orange County Sheriff
Well, I can tell you you've at least got my interest, Pengi! I'm currently using the OCSD Mega Pack available in the downloads section for my single player setup. I love it. The name of the author eludes me at the moment, but whoever made it did an amazing job. Hard to find packs that are so thorough and complete. The one negative I can mention is that I'm not a fan of that particular CVPI model, but that's just me. I'd still use it regardless should you decide to release it.

Are kids smoking weed younger than ever?
This thread is flooded with the results of misinformation and the inability to consider an opposing side's point of view. These are two problems which have plagued this debate as a whole from the very onset. And to be fair, that goes for both sides. However, before this goes any further, I would like to address a few comments made so far. One is the notion that because the government says it's "bad" means it's automatically bad. That's simply foolish, and, if I can say this without sounding like an anarchist, rather sheepish behavior. I'm as much a patriot as any other citizen, but you must realize at one point in your life that there aren't absolutes, and no one is exempt from making mistakes. Two, and this is one of my favorite arguments, is the idea that "drugs are bad and marijuana is a drug and therefore marijuana is bad." I'm here to tell you that that is a complete fallacy. The word "drug" in and of itself carries no negative nor positive connotation. There are all types of drugs in the world, both good and bad. Alcohol, caffeine, penicillin, those antibiotics you take when you get sick - all drugs. So throw that one out if you're going to attempt to seriously debate this topic. Three: the low blows about "democrats" or "people who like Lil' Wayne" etc. These factors are completely incidental, and have no place in this argument. I have friends that listen to Lil' Wayne and don't smoke at all. I have friends that do too, but I also have friends that listen to Jack Johnson and smoke marijuana. These are moot points, and rather childish points to make at that. With that said, XBR and [specifically] cp702 have made some excellent talking points, but I somehow see this topic degrading quickly. But, to offer my two cents in regards to the OP, the answer to your question I think is impossible to find. There's a ton of reasons why people get into smoking reefer. I'd imagine the most common are peer pressure and/or the stresses of the education system. It's probably not too different from the reasons they get into drinking or smoking cigarettes. While I don't condemn the use of marijuana (and I agree that adults are free to make their own choices), I do think that smoking at such a young age is a terrible thing. At those ages, the body is still developing, and it's just reality that smoke inhalation of any kind is no good for your health, regardless of age. I grew up under a particularly interesting set of circumstances, and growing up in the 1990's I saw kids smoking (in general) from grades as low as 6th. So, I wouldn't say that it's a new thing for people to be experimenting at a young age necessarily, but I certainly think it's possible that the frequency has been increasing over time. I have friends with younger siblings, and I've seen some of their lifestyles. Now, I'm no stranger to underage drinking/smoking/drugs either, and I've done my fair share, so believe me when I say I've been shocked by the intensity of some of their habits. I begin to wonder, sometimes, when considering this debate, why that is. Could it be a symptom of our society as a whole? Could it just be a localized phenomenon? Is it generational? Or is it just a fad? Anyway, best of luck to the kids hanging their dirty underwear all over the internet.

CVPI Traffic [WIP]
Looks great bruh! Love me a conservative lighting setup. Way to break the mold of the infinite unmarked/slicktops with Inner Edges or similar. Curious to see what you'll do with the rear.

Should I?
I wouldn't touch that Charger with a stick. I used to own a retired 2003 CVPI. I loved it. Ex-cop cars can be great buys if you know what you're looking for, but as many have said, there's a lot of them out there that are up for auction simply because they've hit the end of the line. It may be important to note that police Chargers were never as popular as CVPI's because of various maintenance issues. Things like brakes wearing down quickly, frame rot and front end failures come to mind. The NYSP had some for a while but retired them quickly for similar reasons as those shown above with the MSP. That all being said, if you're dead set on getting an ex-cruiser, I can recommend a couple of sites that I know will not screw you over. They specialize in fixing up and reselling cop cars, and many in the Crown Vic community have bought from them with no issues and great things to say about them Here: http://www.chicagomotors.com/Index.aspx http://www.copcarsonline.com/ EDIT: Another note about Chicago Motors - IIRC, if you're looking for a specific car (say you want a CVPI, between 05-11, in blue, with a tan interior), they'll do everything in their power to get you the car you want. They'll ship you your car, but if you choose to come out to see them, they'll even pick you up at the airport and everything. Great people, from what I'm told.
