  1. I think that they should add controls for some type of internet radio. In-game control of shoucast, pandora, itunes radio or something similar would be sweet. The real world logistics to implement that would probably be pretty crazy. That said, I never paid much attention to the in-game radio stations.
  2. So whats the turnout look like on this? Is it expanding quickly or is there plenty of room left? I may get in on this but I am unsure of my schedule for Wed and Fri. EDIT: Also, Is this just GTA4 or is it EFLC?
  3. Yes and No. You can use pictures, however you may get a bit of perspective problems in the proportions as a result. That said, blueprints are freely available all over the WWW. The majority of the tutorials out there will explain this step in the early stages. Half of my current project was done without and BP's.
  4. This is true. Hopefully, however, being a beginner won't hold anyone back from jumping in the deep end. The water is fine. I am doing it and although there were some setbacks I am still pushing forward. @OP There is a community here that is willing to help, at least, but be prepared to do some heavy lifting on your own. If you start gluing other peoples parts on other peoples cars, that won't teach you to model anything. Eventually, you will need to venture out on a different path to learn scratch modeling, why not start day one? The ONLY two things that it requires is patience (the tools, of course) and the will to do something different. The tutoring is available ALL OVER THE WWW, you just have to look for it. I will happily answer any questions you may have (that I have answers for), shoot me a PM if you need specific help.
  5. I would rather just wait and hope for GTA V. Thanks.
  6. Thanks to all that responded. I searched and searched and never came across this post, so thank you for the link. This Isnt the specific model that I was going for but it answers my questions. Unfortunately, that's what I was afraid of. Guess I will have to get creative. Thanks again to all.
  7. Well, actually, Micro$oft just started giving away free games to gold subscribers (too little too late maybe??). They gave away Fable 3 and next month Halo 3 and Assassins Creed 2. http://www.theverge.com/2013/6/10/4413668/xbox-live-gold-free-games-promotion-e3-2013 Xbox one will also have cloud saves (which is already currently on the xbox 360) They backtracked from the used game thing saying that it will be left up to the publisher NOT the 'x-bone' (peer pressure works every time) So the last major hurdle would be the connectivity thing (we have a LONG time until release so they could back peddle that one too). Honestly, I don't understand all the displays of hate towards one or the other. Simply stay informed and speak with your wallet. Unless you are crying to the manufacturer of the product in question to get them to change things for the better, is there really a point in crying at all??? Edit: Oh and X-live Gold is $40 not $60
  8. Maybe it's because you are on a dev build. They may fix the battery drain and the other issues between now and release. I will stick to the public launch for the update. Lots of times dev builds break some of the apps and I don't want to deal with that hassle. "The mobile OS from a whole new perspective" should read: The iPhone OS from and Android perspective
  9. I'm a big fan of good design (coming from an engineering background) and to see the way it was packaged when they removed the cover was what captivated me. I admit it is a bit of a strange design direction. Different for the sake of being different. As for iOS, I liked the android OS on its surface but HATED the way it functioned with a passion. Now, I have the best of both worlds. A modern glossy surface with intuitive functionality underneath (and a few neat tricks thrown in). I don't complain about or praise android or iOS because of their flaws or features because as competition they benefit each other. So personally, I think iOS has been a long time coming and I welcome it's changes. At the end of the day they are all just cell phones.
  10. Not to slide off topic, but I was too consumed by the new Mac and didn't pay much attention to iOS 7. That said, after reviewing it and OSX Mavericks (stupid name) I like quite a few things they have done. I like the minimalism as well, the "flat" look. I really think it was time for a drastic visual overhaul for iOS as it's been pretty much the same since the beginning. I like the new multitasking setup, and i've been begging for the radio forever. One thing missing, I think they need to add a wishlist (sync) to the stores.
  11. I am fairly new here and have released a couple skins for cvpi's and my attention turned thanks to WBRPDProductions. He suggested I try my hand at it and I have since decided to have a go at scratch modeling. Time consuming is an understatement (it doesn't help that I have a bit of OCD when it comes to quality). Anyway, I may be one of the summer surprises for release but thats all I will say (hopefully nobody is doing the same, as it's fairly uncommon). Anyway, back on topic, I never thought twice about the slight variations of the same car being released en masse. I simply weed through and get what I want and leave the rest. That said, I do take issue with the really poorly done items. Really, I have come across a few that there was NO POSSIBLE WAY that the author could have thought it was even remotely good, let alone the community. I mean I can understand starting a thread and getting feedback, updating it and getting more feedback through pictures. Then finally releasing something once the feedback dictates. Maybe that should be a prerequisite for releasing something, starting a thread first. I have a new found appreciation for the work that modelers do by actually learning to do it myself. I will say that there is no shortage of learning material and tutorials across the internet. TRUST ME!!! I have put the time in to find the answers to my questions (two answers have eluded me and I just went on my gut with quality in mind). I will say if you don't have patience and a will to do this then you might want to move along. Let me pose this question for this thread. Does it make sense to release a bunch of (currently unavailable) unlocked parts so that there can be more variation (more availability for the 'modifiers') or would it further hurt the community to do so (potentially more garbage releases)? Lastly, I will leave you with this quote to think about: "Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago" - Warren Buffett
  12. I think that I will wait until it they get closer to shipping and try to get a complete picture before I judge. It's funny when people say "speak with your wallet" or some other nonsense, as some cases they are usually the first ones to buy the item in question. In a situation like this people will say "don't by this" or "i'm not getting that" then the sales are off the charts in the first week. Imagine if we all followed through with our promises. That said, I am hoping JAM-Justin is correct with his reverse psychology marketing or at least that Sony learns from the mistakes of others. Maybe they are testing the waters with this. Problem being, when waters get tested there is typically a bar-raising precedent to follow (can you say free to play?) and it's usually in favor of making the company coffers larger. Everything has it's upsides and downsides, question is how much you (we???) are willing to put up with. VIVA LA PC!!!
  13. After reading Troys post I did a little investigating (and I mean little, it took me longer to write this post than it did to download the file open it in max and take the attached screen) and... (I am using the Nitro driver so the shading is 'slightly' different from the direct3d one.) The proper way to go about this would be to say: [starts teleprompter] "No I didn't scratch make it. I found a publicly available file on the interweb and asked for permission to use the file for a conversion project in GTA IV, with proper credit given to all involved. My plan is to make it a usable police vehicle by adding other peoples unlocked parts or asking for modeling help to finish it." [closes teleprompter] Using someone else's work and calling it your own isn't taken very lightly. You should really reconsider how you approach this. Good luck to you, sir. Edit: typo
  14. And I thought MY internet was fast. So lets see what Win Live for Games and Origin have as an answer to this. Maybe the PC version of GTA V has been secreted to take advantage of this.
  15. Ahhhhh. Gotcha, didn't pay close enough attention. This is a possibility, I typically use the visual settings file that comes with ELS 7. However, when this problem happened for me I was using the default .dat. Back to the modded one and haven't had any issues since (could still be unrelated). It could be a distance related problem as well. I took a two city block loop to get back to my vehicle and discover this problem. I had this same issue as OP with a completely different car. In what I assume to be a different car slot. The main thing is that it was completely random for me. Only other change I made (aside from the vis settings) was removing the Towing script.
  16. I had that same problem with a Tahoe (in polpatriot slot). I went on a two block foot pursuit eventually circling back to my vehicle (ELS 7 lights remained active). When I got in it did that same thing. When I turned the lights off it went away, back on it came back. I got out and used Policehelper mechanic to bring me another tahoe and it was fine. However, I didn't get back in the old Tahoe. That was the one and only time, to date that this happened to me. I don't have bandicam but if that is nickib's tomar blade charger, I did have that one installed (in noose slot) also but not in use.
  17. Is there a door limit for vehicles in GTA4? I have searched high and low and have only found one remote comment that didn't help at all. I am fairly new to this scene and am working on a new model and the answer to this will change the direction I go with it. Is it only limited to six: driver front driver rear passenger front passenger rear trunk hood So, if I wanted to create something with four standard doors, three rear doors (or even just two rear doors like old suburbans), plus the hood, is that not possible? Thanks in advance for any help with this. Example of rear doors
