Grand Theft Auto V (Steam Edition) Not Working After Rockstar App Launcher
Hey everyone, just wanted to give a heads up. After Rockstar released their version of the app launcher, I couldn't get my GTA V (Steam Edition) to work any more. Tried everything from verifying files to uninstalling EVERYTHING to reinstalling fresh installs. Up until recently in the Rockstar Games store within the app launcher, it was on sale for $14.99 (as of May 2020). There is a $10.00 discount coupon that you could add (which you could use for anything they're selling) which ultimately brought the sale to $4.99! Can't beat that of course. BUT EPIC Games recently announced if you download their game app, you'll get GTA V for FREE! I took both routes, (I didn't learn about EPIC Games giving away a free copy of GTA V until about a day later). The issue I had was after Rockstar forcing their game launcher, I wasn't able to launch anything. No matter what solution I tried. So after the sale and freebie, I did a fresh install separate/standalone from Steam, the game launches and works as it should. After reinstalling LSPDFR and all the mods, it's up and running (seemingly better in my opinion) then before. I won't get into the details too much, but the bottom line (and most importantly) wanted to inform the LSPDFR community, sometimes starting over from a different solution is the best one. Stay Safe, Stay Healthy! - CPT. Austin P.S. I know solutions vary to everyone, as always I'm just stating on what I did to get back up and running. Also I apologize if this is somewhat of a duplicate post (or rather similar to other posts), I'm sure this post will get added to the category.

Emergency Lighting System
Good day to everyone, I'm going to give you a possible solution to issue where ELS is not working and possibly the game itself won't load past the initial loading screen. I'm going to give the short version and then the long version (for those that are curious what lead to problem and the solution that I've found that worked for me.) I can't promise you that this will work every time for everyone. Just saying it is a solution. [------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Short Version -------------------------------------------------------------------------------] Problem: Grand Theft Auto V and/or ELS Issue: Grand Theft Auto V won't load past the loading screen, and ELS won't function properly (after the fix for the initial loading screen and everything is installed correctly) (I started having these issues after updates to the mods and everything. Not sure if indeed it's the cause, but the timing make sense.) Solution: First thing and more importantly is to check the .logs and see what they say. (All of them not just for the game but all your plugins/mods as well.) 1st solution to problem #1: Game won't load past the loading screen. I made a backup of my saved games and profile then uninstalled the game completely. What's left should be all the mod files (LSPDFR, ELS, TrafficPolicer, UltimateBackup, etc...) I moved all those files to a different directory. I am essentially starting everything over, ran a fresh install. After downloading and installing the game, placed my backup saved game in the Rockstar Folder and loaded the game. Everything loaded just fine and ran with no further issues. 2nd solution to problem #2: ELS (after reinstalling/deploying newer versions of the mods/plugins I had before.) The ELS was not working the way it is suppose to, very short solution... make sure to have the latest ScriptHookV.dll file. Otherwise any .asi plugin/mod will not load. And it's best to start fresh with the VCF ELS .xml files. (Though you would have to edit them again, but since you're installing everything fresh, might as well make sure the ELS starts of fresh as well. *The most important thing is check your logs, it'll tell you exactly what the issue is and you will kind know where to go from there. For me was starting from scratch, ensure all the essential files are download and/or up-to-date, and check the files to ensure the lines of code are correct. (A game can crash just because a period or slash was left out on one line of which in my case some line of code was messed up. That's why I decided to start from scratch.) [------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Long Version -------------------------------------------------------------------------------] The issue I was having only started a few days ago before the update to GTAV, LSPDFR, RAGEPluginHook etc... Again the game would crash during the initial load process. I have looked into quite a few solutions (there were a few that had a similar problem) and tried a couple to no avail. After a day or two of trial and error I said "screw it" uninstalled GTAV (did it through Steam because that's where I got the game from). I also backed up my saved games just in case. Now what's left in my Grand Theft Auto V directory was all the files to the plugins/mods I had installed before. So I took all the files and moved them to a different directory for later review. Now that the directory is completely empty, I start to download the game again. And because we all know how Rockstar Games are when it comes to their game and the space needed to store them, I know it would take awhile to finish downloading and installing. Now I took this time to come to this website and re-download the latest versions of plugins/mods and picked up some new ones to try out. After downloading all the mods I started to extract all the files into one folder for easier deployment later. All said and done GTAV finished downloading and installing the game, I then re-uploaded my saved game. I ran the game without installing the mods (I'm essentially doing a process of elimination and trying to narrow down the main causes for crashes.) Everything opened up as it should and loaded into the game with no further issues. Afterwards I reinstalled all the plugins and everything seems to work so far (to include the new plugins I downloaded. But now all of the sudden ELS is not working, so I was doing a couple of things, one was Googling for possible solutions as well as comparing files from before and the latest newest install. Come to find out I was missing the ScriptHookV.dll (DOH!), so I downloaded the latest script and loaded the VCF .xml files from before into the new directory. Now all of sudden went from everything working (to include ELS) to the game crashing during loading again. (WHAT THE HECK!) After a little digging around I stumbled across the .logs not only. After reading the log files I came across some lines for instance in the RAGEPluginHook.log a couple of the lines stated "error 0x000408cb and code 107 (something similar to that as unfortunately I don't remember exactly what it said and I didn't copy it down). In the ELS.log there was info regarding the VCF .xml files having issues. Before this point I thought maybe the ELS needed an update to work with the latest LSPDFR 0.42 or the ScriptHookV.dll was outdated as well. But after reading the ELS.log at that point I decided to delete all of the VCF .xml files and start from scratch. Using the sample one that provided in the ELS directory I just made multiple copies and edited each one as necessary. And VIOLA! everything started working again, GTAV loaded completely without crashing and ELS functions properly. To include some new mods I've downloaded. *I would like to make an suggestion if I may, while you're waiting for the game to finish downloading and installing. You can take all the mods/plugins and extract them into a single folder for easier upload later. (See figure below) It'll be easier to deploy for later. This is before LSPDFR is reinstalled I'm pretty sure I'm leaving some details out, but I will update this as I remember them. Questions? Concerns? Comments? Suggestions? Thanks for listening!
