DukSezQuak got a reaction from The0ptimopti for a gallery image, A Sad, Rainy Day for Silverlake PoliceAn Officer of the Silverlake Police Department dips his hat in remorse while standing at his traffic control post at a fatal Motor Vehicle Collision that occurred just behind him.
A Silverlake Police vehicle was involved in a T-Bone collision, after a vehicle ran a red light, and slammed into the drivers side of the police vehicle at a high rate of speed. The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene on foot, and a search is now underway for the driver of that vehicle.
Unfortunately despite the best efforts of the Fire and EMS personnel on scene, the officer in the police vehicle involved, who has yet to be named, passed away on the scene.
This incident is just one of two tragic incidents that happened in Silverlake today, as just earlier this morning, a suspect was shot and killed by police during a pursuit. Police do not believe these two incidents are connected, and do believe speed and alcohol were a factor in the collision.

DukSezQuak got a reaction from Ragnrok for a gallery image, Silverlake Road Shut Down after Police PursuitThree lanes of 64th avenue remain closed tonight after a police pursuit ensued for twenty minutes through the streets of Silverlake. Police were pursuing a stolen Dodge Viper that was located driving around in Lower Silverlake. The driver fled from police immediately, and led police on a lengthy pursuit which then ended on 64th Avenue after the suspect lost control of his vehicle. The suspect then got out of the vehicle and began to shoot at police with a firearm, resulting in the suspect being shot and killed by police.
A full investigation has been launched and the scene is still under investigation. No officers were physically harmed in the shooting and have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. No other details are available at this time.

DukSezQuak got a reaction from Element for a gallery image, Eventful Morning for Silverlake Emergency ServicesIt was an eventful morning for Silverlake City Emergency Crews, as a distress call went out at approximately 5:50 this morning, after a passenger of a vehicle had appeared to start having a cardiac event. Police, Fire and EMS crews attended the scene on 46th Avenue in Silverlake, where the vehicle had stopped. EMS Crews immediately took the 76 year old passenger to Silverlake General Hospital in Downtown Silverlake, where he remains in critical, life threatening condition.
During the investigation, police had discovered that the driver, 28 year old Thomas RICHARDS of Silverlake, had warrants for a previous offence, unrelated to this incident. Thomas RICHARDS is the son of the 76 year old male passenger, who's identity has yet to be released. Thomas RICHARDS was taken into police custody at the scene.
Crews have since cleared the scene, and the vehicle has been removed from the roadway. Traffic has been fully restored to the area.
