Managed to find the solution: Go to: Steamsteamappscommongrand theft auto ivGTAIV Right click LaunchGTAIV.exe and click "properties" Click the compatablility tab Tick the "run this program in compatibility mode for:" box Select Vista SP1 Click Apply/OK Source: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2220721

So I load up my game, before the start up screen even appears, I am given this error, despite the fact I have been playing GTA IV fine for the last few days. Is there any logical explanation to this (and considering I am using Windows 7).

I've restarted it, and it keeps coming up every time, hence why I installed it. It happens every time I play, not just on the odd occasion.

So, lately, I've been getting this error after about five minutes in game (sometimes less). I did a complete reinstall of GTA IV, and it still has the error. No mods, no scripts. LCPD:FR uninstalled, no car mods, no sounds, no other scripts. I was wondering if anyone can give some advice or help on how to resolve the issue. Thanks.

Certainly is a strange situation. As has been previously said, your best bet is to contact Steam to try to get some support for the situation.

I'm uncertain whether or not my PC will be able to run GTA V, even with some upgrades I'll have by then. To add to that, console is much better for multiplayer (in my opinion) but PC is the best for editing scripts and modding. Just thought I'd throw it out there. I like PC and console equally.

I don't think this is possible. Doing Alt+T will turn on the siren when you put on your primary lights, but that's the closest you may be able to get to the system you said. Someone else may be able to give you some guidance if it's possible.

Can't wait to see a new release of LCPD:FR, it's been a long time coming.
