Excuse me sir, do you realise how fast you were modding back there?
It all started back in 1999. GTA2 was the first game I ever dove into the files and started messing with stuff.
Back then, I had no idea what I was doing, and no idea that it was even called "modding".
I've made countless mods for countless games since then, and even attempted to make my own full game from scratch with the help of a friend in the UK. We completed about 20% of a game in just over 3 years. We abandoned the project for several reasons, time being a major factor, lack of support, funds, but also big name studios were releasing similar games and eventually we called it quits during mid 2011.
I don't know what it is about GTA, but I just keep coming back to it, keep on diving into those juicy files to see just how far I can push myself and the game.
The only GTA I skipped over modding was GTA3, as I only had a console version, and I was late to the party. Vice City was on the horizon and once again I found myself messing with the game. VC was the first GTA that I learned about handling meta, and spent the good part of a couple of years tweaking pretty much every car.
Nothing much has survived from those days except a couple of poor quality screenshots.
(circa 2003)

GTA4 is where it really started to become something more than just a bit of fun to see what I could do. For the first time I actually had goals and even though they were still just for me and a bit of fun, it was a great learning experience, and it's also where I learned that GTA is completely comprised of models, and virtually no "Terrain" or a BSP like other game engines have. I was coloured impressed.
This is also around the time (2009) that I started searching for, and then eventually (2010) creating my own Australian Emergency skins for some modded vanilla cars, which was also around the time EFLC was released and I stopped working on my skins for IV and went straight to EFLC.
The Sultan skins were by far the most amount of effort I had put into a vehicle skin. I never fully released any of these, even though I planned to, life just got in the way and I had to abandon the project.
Thankfully after a recent re-discovery of a dusty HDD that I thought was dead, I was able to recover the 4 Sultan skins seen in the picture above.
I'd release them, except they're now 8 years out of date, and Aus police cars have changed quite a bit since then.
Which brings me to GTAV. A game that I own 7 different copies of on all 5 platforms (360+xbl,ps3+psn,xbone,ps4,pc).
I think I've racked up about 3500 hours game time by now, probably more. It's one of only 2 games that I've gone to midnight launch for.
Now that I have 2 kids, and my daughter is almost 6, she's old enough to hold the controller, but the content of GTA is so mature that normally it would be irresponsible to let her play, but with mods, I can restrict what she can do quite easily and effectively, and she has never enjoyed herself more. She loves RPing as a husky, lol.
I usually let a GTA game "settle" for a year or two before even considering mods. That's partly why I'm here, back from the dead, bringing (hopefully) fresh content to the community.
</ I'll Insert stuff I make for GTAV here when I have more than crappy WiP screenshots to show >
Modding is just a bit of fun, but if you want to check out some of my other work, you can either visit (one of) my websites:
