Green warning lights were used on many vehicles, but became more popular after the tragedies experienced on 9/11. After this day, green lights began to be used by Homeland Security. The Homeland/Counter Terrorism Agencies use green lights on a variety of different vehicles when they are responding to terrorist incidents. The use of green lighting is important in this situation so that other government agencies immediately recognize Homeland Security. In some states, the "Command" vehicle in a fire scene may use a green light to identify its location in the incident.
